My walmart finds

U.P., MI(Zone 5a)

Hi Everyone,
l am new here. I have a small collection of 12 african violets but you guys make me want to add to my collectiom.
All of your pictures of the Walmart finds made me decide to go take a peak at ours. They had just got a new batch in for valentines day and I was looking for something a little different. Varigated leaves, different colors etc.
I came up with 3 plants. What do you think? :)

Best wishes,
Sue

I do have a question. There were four of the plants with white edged leaves. Do you think I should buy some more of those for trading purposes. Are those somewhat unusual.

Thanks,
Sue

They have tags but they just say grown in Canada,

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Did your violets have names on them? Love all of them and the blue with the white tips leaves is just yummy!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Bettygail, what is that one named? Are yours in double pots? Mine were actually in green pots that were sat down into pink and blue pots, so when I lifted them out the green pots had names on them...

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Being a beginner, I just buy whatever is pretty.....as none of them seem to have names at Wally World and Lowes.....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

They are doing so well I have been afraid to take out of each pot and repot??????????? They are growing under lights by leaps and bounds....you think there may be a name under one.....I will go look at one....someone on line told me that they look a little like 'Pink Patches"?????????????????

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I don't think you need to repot them...no! I was saying the ones I got at WalMart were in pink or blue pots, and when I looked more closely they were actually in little green pots that were sat down into the pink or blue pots, so when I lifted the green pots out of the "outer" pots, the green pots had the names on the pots...whew...hope that makes sense..

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

It does make sense......mine just came in those little brown thin pots...

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Whew..Good catch Janet. Here I was picturing poor Gail covered in dirt . LOL (just teasing bettygail ; )

Sue,Beautiful finds.They all look wonderful! : )

Edited to add: Sue if you find out the names of your beauties please let us all know. They are all Gorgeous! : )

I have found some beautiful AV's at Home Depot from Anthoflores in Canada. That may be the same place.
You can go to their site for identification.

Glamourpuss: Oh I would love to make a trade for one of those white edged ones with the blue flowers!Do you think you can get more from your Wal-Mart? I can trade you an Optimara 'Annabelle' for one if you want. I don't have very many AV's, but folks here on this forum are quickly getting me addicted! Here's a photo of Annabelle when they were blooming:

I've been finding new AV's at the Wal-Mart here. Here are three of them. One has white-edged leaves. I'm glad I got there when I did, because this was the last one like it.

Here are the other three I found at Wal-Mart.

Beautiful Candace! Y'all have all the luck! I found a real pretty one a few weeks ago at our Wal-Mart, pink flowers with variegated foliage. The first and only time I've ever found with variegated leaves at Wal-Mart! I keep checking, but they haven't gotten in any more AV's of any kind. I'm hoping in a few weeks they will get a new shipment. I think they must all be going up north!

Lindenhurst, NY

They are beautiful. I love the 1st pic you posted, it's a real beauty. I never see a/v's locally like you have. I have to mail order mine.

Red Oak, NC(Zone 7b)

I love the first one too!

Oshkosh, WI(Zone 4b)

The WM here seems to get in new AV's about every two weeks. This is the first time I've seen one with white edges on the leaves though.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I love seeing new folks finding beautiful AV's and getting hooked like the rest of us!! LOL! Stick with us, ladies, and you'll have a houseful in no time :))

Planti: All it takes for us to get hooked is seeing the Beauties that people are posting here on this forum!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I now have 23 of these (LOL) as I have no idea what i am doing, but they are looking great and it has turned into an addiction.....need a 12 step program immediately.....

I understand!
