I'm looking to buy from Florida colors a grafted cocunut scent plumeria, I was thinking since I grow them in containers I would be better off buying a dwarf type.
does anyone know which dwarfs have cocunt scent ?
Also, does anyone have Florida colors email address?
Thanks
Need help choosing please
Maureen,
You can reach them through their site www.floridacolors.com also ther eis a thread on here already with the 2007 catalogue. There is a description of each variety. I think scent is there too??
Brad
Hi Maureen, yes, Brad is right -- check out their web site and the thread here that has their price list. Unfortunately, they don't list the fragrance, but they do list the growing habit. I got their 'Jeanette' last year, which is supposed to be a low-growing one or a dwarf. Dwarf Singapore Pink and Dwarf Singapore White have wonderful-smelling flowers, and Mele Pa Bowman does also, but it is a little more temperamental to care for.
The best coconut scent that I have smelled so far is Key West Pink and Kauka Wilder. Those are two must-haves in my book.
Remember that you can always prune to keep your tree manageable, and you can always start over with cuttings. Gordon in New York has quite a few plumerias that he hauls up to the rooftop through a skylight each year. It's quite impressive.
Florida Colors probably won't ship now due to the freezing temps still occurring around the country so your best bet is to order from them in the spring after they return from Thailand. Call Carol by phone to place your order.
Brad - thank you for the link to their website. I will take a look for their catalog on here.
Clare - I will order from them in the spring. I will call the order into them. Thank you for your help.
Dutchlady1 - yes, I've heard Miami rose has a great fragrance, I thought it was rose scented though. Even better if it's coconut. Thanks
