dose the chick bator work well
Hi Lucky,
I have one and I never seem to get it right! I've tried to hatch 3 clutches of eggs now , in mine, and have not hatched even one egg! I do know the eggs have to be turned by hand several time a day, and of coarse the humidity has to be right! I just havent found a way to do it with this tiny little incubator.
I have the thermometer and I even bought several different kinds of light bulbs so that I could try them to find the perfect one for the device! But nothing worked! I gave up, cause I hate losing chicks , whether they are hatched or just starting out in the egg! I started to feel like a mad scientist experimenting on animals! So now I rely totally on my Barred Rock Hen to be the " Hatchery"!
Now , Im not saying the little Incubator doesnt work, Im saying that"I" couldnt figure it out! May be with patience and total dedication , You can do it! I hope so, and Good luck! E
hopefully it will work thank you Eufaula
I started to get one last winter, but the man at our local farm store said they didn't carry them anymore because people have had such a hard time with them. I don't know if it's the same kind you are talking about, but the one I wanted was for only 3 regular size eggs or maybe 5 bantam size. He said the main problem was with the humidity. He said it was so small, it was hard to keep the moisture consistent.
I ended up building a homemade one that worked ok, but only after much trial & error.
that sounds like the same one that i got
Hopefully you will have good luck with yours. It might be possible to keep the humidity more constant if you put it (the whole chick-bator) inside a larger container like one of the big storage tubs ?? or something to help keep it from losing moisture. Maybe then drape a bath towel over the tub and spritz it with a little warm water a couple times a day. It might be a little more trouble than you figured on, but I bet you can do it.
hopefully i can
