Usually they are moving so fast, you can't get a good look at them. Nice pics.

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Great pic..I heard there was a large flock seen in Texas recently. We had quite a few here (both Cedar and Bohemian) in December and early January, feeding on our abundant mountain-ash berries. The berries are gone now and so are the waxwings. Oh well, the cedars at least will return in June.

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

Thanks. They are still here. Several thousand of them. The flock flew past me this afternoon, some as close as 5 feet. They flew past for at least 5 minutes. Many others were resting in trees around the house. They have become more trusting, continuing to preen as I got within 15 feet of them.

This one was no more than 10 feet away. It was very windy, 30 to 40 MPH.

How cute! Glad you can get closer.

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

I did have trouble taking pictures. The trees were swaying3 to 4 feet.

Thanks.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Really impressive photos - I can't imagine getting such good pics with winds of that speed . . . hope they have died down now before they do any damage!

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

Dead calm today. About half the pictures I took yesterday were bad, either missed the target completely or too much motion. Trying to time the shots between gusts is difficult. Also I suppose that due to the wind most of the birds had their crests down. They almost looked like different kinds of birds.
