What's the best time to spray with Neem Oil?

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

I know Neem Oil can burn leaves if sprayed in the sun but what about lights? Should it be sprayed when the lights are off, about to go on, about to go off. The temp goes down to about 64 at night in my plant room, so didn't know if I should spray when they'll be moist with it that cool.

Early morning ... now when use to run our lights at night.
But early moring is best . I don't like to spray or water at night its cool and can casue rot.

with those night temps, morning would be better. Just give them a cloudy day ;)

Actually, standard fluor tubes will not burn them unless the plants are really close. But to be safe, I would cut back on the hrs a bit.

I spray in the morning with the lights on and have never had a problem. I spray monthly.

okay, I need to know about this NEEM oil...should I be spraying mine with some? I am so new at this...

Neem Oil keeps those pesky mealies (and gnats) away and also is a leaf shine. It's natural and not poisonous (important for me with so many kids and dogs :) ). I love it. I only purchase cold-pressed Neem, so I generally can't purchase off a store shelf from around my area. Greenlight is not cold pressed and contains impurities, but is still good for the purpose. It's just a matter of preference. I order mine from www.wormsway.com. I know you can buy off ebay cheaper, but I don't know how it's stored or how old it is so I prefer to buy from Worm's Way.

I also use it outside on my garden plants in the spring/summer. It has worked on almost every single pest I've encountered (Harlequin bugs excepted). I HATE Harlequin bugs!

By the way, when you first begin to use it, it smells really bad. I'm used to it now and it doesn't bother me.

Thanks for the information! I will certainly look into it...

Janet, it'll also take care of powdery mildew if you get that. I've been spraying it every 1 1/2 weeks and every 3 weeks I've been mixing Neem Oil, Messenger, and fish emulsion at 1/4 strength.

I just wanted to get yals opinion on when to spray with oil and see if the lights would burn.

Plantmom, are you using Dyna-Gro?

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Wow that sounds like something I need to get....I quit buying Gerbera Daisies because of the mildew problem I have with them...have you used it on those? It doesn't make spots on the violets?

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

I haven't tried it on Gerbera Daisies, but I've used it on everything else I grow indoors and out. It makes the leaves beautiful! It's left no spots on the AV leaves and hasn't affected the blooms.

Baja--Yes, I use Dyna Gro. I just have to ask--how bad is the smell when you combine all of the above? The fish emulsion is so gross--does the Neem make it better or worse???

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

It says to use 1 ts per qt so I only used 1/4 ts for that reason and the smell isn't bad at all. I did however learn not to bottom water trays of AV or use the fish emulsion in the wicking res!! LOL Don't Do This!!!!! I did. LOL That's why I started using it in a spay and at only 1/4 the recommended amount.
