Small town "Puppy Day Care" LOL

Some of you know we lost our Rhodie Belle to cancer back in March. She left behind the three boys. Bill has been wanting to get another female to keep them in line,but the time just wasn't right...until Sunday. He went to a local store for garlic bread and there was a couple there giving away puppies before taking them to a shelter. They had 4 males and 1 female. He came home, got me and back we went.

Pups were born 12/12/06. Mom is black lab..Dad is ?? Well I picked up the female...you know the rest. I named her Onyx...when I said Onyx she looked at me like she knew the name. Turns out her Mom's name is Onyx, so I guess it was meant to be. Somewhere in the gene pool she has Chow...her tongue is SOOOO cool. It's lined in blue/black with polka dots down the center.

And so to small town "Puppy Day Care". On Monday I went to town for puppy food and a collar. Had to stop at the post office first. Not wanting to leave her in the jeep I took her in with me. WELL....Maureen,the postmistress, couldn't get her hands on Onyx fast enough! Said I was headed to town to get stuff...."You can leave her here with me if you want". Couldn't do that...hard to fit a collar without the puppy. Tuesday when I hit the postoffice Maureen "mildly" chewed me out because I hadn't brought Onyx to say hello and give puppy kisses.

Now it's yesterday. Bill and I had to go to town to get plumbing supplies and groceries. Being this early in the game of new puppy we didn't want to leave Onyx home alone with the boys. First stop...post office so naturally I took her in with me. Once again Maureen couldn't get her hands on Onyx fast enough. In the course of conversation the offer is again made to watch the baby. "Let me ask Bill". Out I go (alone LOL) only to return with one laundry basket complete with towel,toys,food and water. Maureen allowed as how if we ran late and didn't get back before closing I knew where she lives!!! TOO FUNNY It being Valentines Day "Onyx" bought Maureen a single rose and "wrote" a note...."Dear Auntie Maureen, Thank you for my Doggie Day Care. Happy Valentines Day! Love, Onyx....XOXO and glad wags. SOOOO small town "Puppy Day Care" for me is the United States post office!!! How cool is that??
