Saw 5 of them in my front yard where I have a number of Holly Bushes they were eating from.. Could only get a few shots of one, lighting was very poor. I'm Thrilled!!!
I Have BLUEBIRDS, Yipppeeee!
You're thrilled, and I'm green with envy !!!
What a sweet little bird - and look at that ice ! Brrrr.
Thanks for sharing.
Awww ! Such a sweetie pie. Thanks
oh big Congrats Pell. I sure love my Bluebirds but haven't seen them in a month or so
Yay! Good for you!! Do you by any chance have a heated bird bath? Bluebirds love water in the winter. I use a heated dog bowl which is cheaper than the bird baths.
Pelle: Congrats! and thanks for posting them. I didn't' know they liked holly. Post more if you get 'em. I must enjoy Bluebirds vicariously. They are a pretty rare sight round my neighborhood.

Oh, be still my heart!!! They're wonderful! (And I'm trying very hard not to turn green!!!)
Congratulations on your new arrivals! I know better, but in the shots it looks like you have a high rise building across the street!
pelletory;,,,,,
Congratulations on seeing so many of these beautiful little birds in you're yard....That must of been a pleasant supprise..... I remember the first time I had bluebirds visit after putting up the houses....They didn't nest that year but the following year they were back and nested.....
I see you got a mix of the snow and rain from the storm over your way.......We had all snow, twenty inches or so.......Took all day getting the car shoveled out and on my way to work now,,,
Congrats again with your bluebirds...
...Dave
Pelle--Congrats on the Bluebirds.
Yes, you're thrilled and I'm green with envy, too!
Must be quite a beautiful sight in your yard!
I have bluebirds year round. We have up birdhouses. They roost in them when it gets really cold. They will also eat sumac berries. I bring those in from our woods up to the house. They will eat meal worms but I don't normally feed those until early Spring when DH starts fishing.
I love the warbling sound they make.
Me too Teresa! I love the constant twittering they make when I'm out working in the garden. You are so luky you get them in the winter too. Mine go to the golf course down the street to hang out when its cold but as soon as we get a warm day they are back looking around at houses lol. I got 3 more bb houses over the winter and plan on adding some houses for the other birds too. This is making me think about a bird house thread! it just about that time!
Thanks Everyone! I had taken a lot more photos but between startling them and my unsteady hand, they didn't turn out. They looked so cute picking up the red berries in their beaks.
Dave, Wow you really did get hit bad with snow! We haven't had a big snow like that in several years. Actually we didn't get rain but sleet. First snow, then a lot of sleet, then more snow. Very scary driving and walking. The main highways are fine but all the other roads are all ice.
Blue, I want to get some BB houses up as soon as possible but with the ground being frozen I'm not sure how I'm going to get any pole into the ground.
That brings up a question, does anyone use conduit pipe as a pole instead of buying the more expensive pole w/ baffle set from the bird store? I wanted to put 2 houses up and was trying to find a way to cut cost. Thanks again.
As a matter of fact, I bought a house from Audubon Workshop that came with a pole. The pole was a piece of rebar about 4 feet long that you stick into the ground and then there was a silver pipe that you slide over ther rebar. The pipe fit into a hole drilled into the top of the house. I know that is hard to picture so I will get a pic to show how it was done.
Great Bluebird pics!
