Cjotoys can hndle lower temps down to 40. Streps like it cooler too.
But they do need food and lots of light to bloom.
Chiritas like small tight pots trans-planting once a year is fine. They will be happy even every 2-3 years !
Some grow large some are Mini size.
Happy Growing their wonderful plants I love mine !!

One of the kind members here sent me four itty-bitty Strep babies, several months ago, and they haven't grown an inch either. I was wondering why, so manybe the answers you get will answer my question. I have them in warmth with good lighting, but they still just sit there!

Streptocarpus and Chiritas like to be dry side. DO NOT OVER WATER. They will not forgive you ~ Under water they wilt they will come back when watered. Over water they will die.
They both like Humdity , good air circulation, just like AV's but they like it dry.
Streps like to be re-potted a lot. But Chiritas Don't
My large plant is in a 5 inch pan pot.
It's about 20 inches across.

Also each variety grows different some large, some more compact, some mini.
FEED them too !!

Oh your plants look nice and healthy ! Everything you grow dose well !
Do the same as Av's except water when dry, if they get cool they won't get upset. and you don't have to re-pot as often. They progate easy by leaf. And their flowers come up on stalks like Streptocarpus or Orchids and last a long time !

LOL Thats what I was afraid of Allison. Don't know of any ways to "trick" them into thinking spring is here do ya?

I hope my yellow blooming one blooms. It has loads of buds but never bloomed before though I have had it as long as the others and it is large though missing leaves from breaking off or taken off. It has a lot of buds. Bugs take a long time to form,

Maybe mine will come to life when the days start getting longer - 2 minutes a day doesn't phase them!

Allison .... you are so good! I love reading when you post, always great information! Is your yellow blooming one a Strep or Chirita? Hope you will post a photo when it begins to flower .... I bet it is really pretty. I don't know of many houseplants that have yellow flowers. I've been wanting one of those Clivia plants for years in either yellow or orange, but they are so expensive! Please tell us the name of the one you have that has yellow flowers!

Mine were not really growing that much either so I just gave them some VF-11. Hopefully that will get then to grow and then bloom.

From mine experience with the chirita they really did not grow that much during the late fall into winter months but when first of march they starting to grow again. I noticed when putting down leaves in fall and winter the babies was very slows at coming up also. But really most of chirtia grow slow. I knew now I have little one's of the chirita its very hard to noticed if they grow that much in month.

I notice the more light they get the happier ! I have babies growing good on all leaves put down and the few Mom plants I have are happy as long on the dry side, good air circulation, lots of light and food.
I have noticed even with avs leaves in Winter they are slower.

might be a dumb question but how do you get babies from the leaves?? Is it as easy as taking one off and putting it in potting soil and feeding it?

They look nice and heathy starfly.when they get bigger would you like to trade a leaf from them?
