Hello I recently purchased some rather expensive seeds on ebay and to my surprise 6 have sprouted however some of them are rather pale looking.Does anyone else have any experience with this/ I am thinking about using a diluted fertilizer on them miracle grow etc etc etc. they are growing in my usual mix of seed start (ground peat i think) and potting soil. any help would be apreciated I usually transplant seedlings into just soil however I like to wait untill they are a little bigger than the plants are now but the paleness has me perplexed as to what to do. thanks
pale seedlings
I have so many seedlings under lights, turned pale. Just watered them with epsom salts. Mixed up a weak fertilizer to water with next. We have had plenty of sunshine, so don't know why they are pale. Have some in windows with sunshine, seem to be greening up. Hope this is the answer.
Yes... I've noticed this almost white leaf start to some of mine... Also special seeds I bought.. but I also saw it on ChinaDoll a morning glory... mostly this is just on the first few sets of leaves... and with it occouring on a few types of seed... I think it has more to do wih the high humidity and the bottom heat .. I do give them a dilute seaweed concentrate and a rootng stimulator.. but they still emerged and grew just about white.. when they got a bit bigger...after potting them into a cooler flat and with more ventilation and food... they have been greening up nicely... and there went my hopes for a heavily varaigated Brug... yours should be fine as well.. Check the soil pH. Tonny's thread on this says that with the types of potting mixes we use, the pH can drop rather fast and nitrogen can't be used by the plant.
I have all my seedlings planted in same soil., only 4 show yellow leaves, so figure a little light fert. can't hurt. They are getting greener, so don't know if it is the sunshine, longer days, or fertilizer, but they seem to be coming out of it.
