Doing a victory lap here tonight!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I managed to get momma cat and her last kitten into crates tonight and trapped 5 feral cats that have been abandoned at the sawmill. They are all on their way to be altered and those that are tame enough will be placed for adoption. The others will be returned to the site and we will feed them. It's not perfect but it beats putting them down and this way they all get a vet check, flea and tick treatment and spay/neutering. That is 7 down and we will set up in a new area of the mill next week.

We had to stop trapping a few months ago due to the organization we use losing their funding. But they came by today with traps and carriers because they got a grant approved. This is a big relief since they breed so heavily and Momma was going into heat again and the Tom cats were howling at the moon the last two nights I had her trapped inside the office with me.

The local ranchers took a bunch of them for barn cats last time around but we are running out of ranches now so most of these will be returned to live out their lives as mill cats. At least there I can make sure they are fed and tame as many as I can. Once they are tamed I usually manage to find someone who will give them a home.
