I have this hollyhock, I don't know it's name. At the moment I am only looking for natives or sedum so it may need to be a sase. (What is sasbe?)

hi!
thank you for the reply! you have gorgous hollys i would love to add them to this bed since i have never planted these and only seen pics of them. i have never seen that color before it sure is a beauty! sorry i don't have any sedums, not sure what they are but i know i don't have any seeds for them. what natives were you looking for? i'm not sure if i can help you on that or not it depends on what you are looking for. i only know what is native here to pa. if we can't figure out a trade yes, i would like to take you up on your generous offer for a sase. oh yes, i had a hard time with the sasbe too, lol. i had to stare at it a long time to figure it out.
thank you,
mary

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

okay mabe i picked to hard of colors to do,lol. i might have to make that a small bed.

how about we add purple, black or orange flowers also to this. anyone have seeds for any of these colors?

mabe i can do 2 boxes instead. one that is green and apricot/peach and one that is purple and orange or purple and black. now i have never done specific colored gardens before but thought it would be awesome to try something new. what do you guys think?

silkiechick - be a bit patient. My guess is that a lot of people are working out what they have to exchange. I know I've been trying to think through which of my plants fit your request. So - by all means start another thread - but remember, it takes a long time to get a good bed together.

Having said that - go over to the European thread and locate Mike Freck. Now that is a man that can send seeds of almost anything you can imagine, And he will definately be able to fill that bed over and over. Extremely generous, and lots of fun to correspond with. He will welcome the contact. (Actually, I think he has a couple of swap threads here too).

I'll let you know what I come up with in my seeds.

This is the link to Mike's last swap message http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/674525/

sorry, i didn't mean to sound impatient or anything. i guess it's just the 3ft of snow getting to me and being snowed in, it's been pretty bad here with this storm. don't mind me i'm just excited for spring to come and so looking forward to it so i'm trying to keep myself busy.

i'm also really excited to figure out what to put in this bed. the ones i did last year are by kinds and alot of colors in one so i want to try something new and special see how it goes. i figured mabe the colors were to hard to think of especially with green and apricot i know it is really hard to find things that color so i added my other favorite ones too. thought mabe that might help out some. i truely appreciate everyone takeing the time to try to help me, it means alot!! THANK YOU!!

oh and i know what you mean i've been trying to look through mine to update my list of haves to help everyone else too so i have more things to exchange back. thank you for your help and the link, that was really nice of you!
thanks again,
silkie

Silkie, in the meantime you might want to pop over to the PNW thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/684186/ there has been a long conversation going on about plant combinations. Way down towards the bottom, message 3188299 is a posting with a link for a garden by someone identified as Dave - well worth looking at for its combination of purple and orange in one of the beds. Absolutely stunning. One of the best gardens I have seen photographed.

Hope you enjoy it.

I'm not sure what I have for trade, I'll have to go through my collection. I am also a big fan of peach and apricot. For my wedding, my flowers were shades of apricot, light pink and cream/ light yellow. We added some touches of a darker pink because it just seemed to punch up the other colors as well. You may want to consider adding those similar toned colors which will give a little more variety while staying in the same soft, warm tones. I do have some plant recommendations for you to consider though.

Perennials
1. Alyssum saxatile 'Sunny Border Apricot' - this one can be hard to find. I had it but it died after a few years.
2. Agastache- lots of varieties in the peach/apricot tones as well as light and medium pink
3. Peaches and Dreams Hollyhock (seeds from Thompson and Morgan). Double apricot.
4. Achilliea 'Terra Cotta' shades of light through deep peachy orange depending on age of the flower
5. Roses- all kinds of roses- esp. 'Polka', 'The Alchemist' many more- esp. David Austin types
6. Astillbe- several varieties
7. Heuchera 'Peach Flambe' 'Marmalade' other peach leaf forms
8. Hibiscus 'Copper King' has white flowers but copper foliage.

I could start a whole other thread about annuals. Consider Alonsoa, Creme Brulee' Phlox, poppies, Clarkia, Coral Nymph Salvia. Lots more but I've gotta run.

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

oh my gosh those pics are gorgous!!! can you imagine how time consumeing that must have been! what a joy it must be to live there in that beauty, i love the stone work also.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I have some green zinnia for some of your moss verbena.

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

thank you so much for that list, i will see if i can locate any of them. you just reminded me of some things in the yard i forgot i had, lol. i have orange daylilies, salome daffodils, appricot foxglove, apricot bearded iris, electric orange lilies and mabe some others if i think about it. i got those in beds already but i can move them to this one and just put something else in their place.

while everyone is sorting through what they have, what are you guys interested in? that way i can look see if i have anything you guys might want too. i don't have my list fully updated again. let me know so i can check my stash.
thanks again!!

a quick question, does anyone have sunflowers in peach/orange(can't remember the name of them think it's like peaches and cream or something), lime-green, jade, or pale pastel colors or bi-colors?

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

oooohhhh!!! You just reminded me that I've also have seeds for a "green" sunflower. In fact, I probably have close to a dozen varieties of SF's. I'm gonna have to get my stash out and I can send you a list and we can go from there, ok?!

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

Mary,

I did look at your list and I really do have an awful lot of seeds (thanks to the generosity of DGers) so I really am not looking for a trade. I will make a list of what I can send you and you can let me know what you'd like and I'll get them sent out to you next week. Don't "worry" about postage or sending a SASBE...just pass on (pay it forward...) to other DG newbies when you can, OK?!

Talk to you later...

jan,
i don't have alot but can still share with ya. i have double blue(i'd have to check my auction win for the actual name of it), yellow and marsh mellow pink seeds now.

i have 1 tree i think this one is salmon pink(almost an orange color) and 2 bush type ones outside. the bush type ones are red like the color of a code red mountain dew bottle and the other is more a redish pink color. when weather breaks i'll have to see if tags are still readable i know all 3 are hardy and at least 2 are doubles but i think all are doubles from what i remember the blooms are. later in the year i'll have seeds for these also. if you are interested i'll add you to my journal to let you know when i have seeds available for those.
thanks,
mary

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

jan,
i would love your green sun flowers! also some of the ones you have said and posted pics for. i have lemen lime sunflower seeds already but not many so can always use more. i'd be interested in yours no mater what they are since green but do you know which ones you have? there is also jade and another one to that's why i ask, i'd like to get all of them eventually. what other sunflowers do you have so i can google see what they are? there are many i'd like to get i only have the green, autum beauty and mamouth. i have velvet queen also but can't find it. hubby misplaced a small box of seeds i had from last year i didn't have a chance to plant and we can't locate it.

everyone i updated my have list as of today. i added some and i took off a few. there are some of the new ones that i only have 1-2 small trades of so who ever claims them first gets them. i will keep updateing as much as possible since i have more trades comeing in plus i have ordered things. my want list is not in stone but it has been updated also, it's just what i can remember off hand that i want. if someone wants to make an offer for something i have but not on my list of wants, i'll work with ya too. i'm always looking for new things to add.
thanks,
silkie

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

if there is anyone that wanted to trade i haven't d-mailed yet please d-mail me so i don't miss anyone.
thank you!!

Mary,

Got the seeds sorted...but couldn't find the "green" SF's but I do have Velvet Queen SF.

I did find another green item for your "green-themed" garden: Nicotiana x sanderae/Domino Lime Green Hybrid Flowering Tobacco.

I will send your seeds out tomorrow...
