welded wire hoopstyle Green house calculations

rosswood, BC

OK..I,m sure this has been beat to death but...My local feed store never heard of cattle panels.soooo..I called the concrete place and they have welded wire panels 6"x6" squares,20 ft long and 7 ft wide.($85 plus tax)..now my question for the math geniuses. How wide will they be if I want 7 ft headroom?or..How many would I need for a 50ft greenhouse12 ft wide?I know 50ft devided by 6ft =8 plus one extra, but at what width?(I,m expexting overlap)or..How wide could I bend a 20ft sheet and still have reasonable headroom?will 7 ft headroom mean, I will need to add more length?Another option.I could build solid walls up 3 or 4 ft and then put the hoops on.Hope this makes sense..
Thanx

Gord,

My cattle panels were 52" wide x 16 ft long. I put them on 24"h kneewalls and that gave me a ceiling height of almost 8'. This might help you calculate what you need. My GH is 8ft wide btw. It took 4 panels to give me a length of 17 ft

You need about 22 feet to make a 7ft headroom. Are you very tall, that you need 7 ft? LOL!
This will give you a 14 ft width. Make it a little narrower & headroom gets higher. Also that will give you a steeper roof. If you leave it up in winter, the steeper the roof, the less chance of snow staying on. Maybe you don't get snow.
Hope this helps.

btw tamatik the person who originally came up with this type of greenhouse specifies that the width should be kept at 8 ft. Has to do with the lateral strength of the greenhouse. Any narrower or wider and it can't carry any snow, ice or water loads.
