On another forum, someone asked about bulb treatments. I did a google.com search, and found the following recipes by Jerry Baker:

1/2 lb gypsum

Bulb Booster

Sprinkle on beds in early spring, just as foliage breaks ground.Bulb Protector

Bulb treatments
PHYSAN 20 is the bulb drench used by most serious bulb growers--and its organic.
hi dmj1218
Can you please explain what you mean by Physan 20 being 'organic'?

I soak(totally immerse)
all bulbs, corms, rhizomes, iris, daylilies, lilium in a mixture of 10% javex (chlorox) and water for minimum 30 mins. then rinse well before planting in my gardens. I'm dead scared of A the lily beetle, B) iris borer and C - anything else that may come in with bought/swopped/traded plant material.
Potted material gets sprayed with soapy water and then put in a special bed till I'm sure it isn't carrying anyting. Only exception to this is potted plants from local gardeners that I know are as careful as moi.
