Hi all, my raised bed was infested with bermuda last season and my peppers and tomatoes suffered for it. I tried to keep it under control but that stuff is evil! After everything was pulled out last Sept. I sprayed weedkiller [ hated to do that] and cut a trench around the bed. Now it's time to start my seeds and since I wanted to grow squash this year and it's
such a fast grower, do you folks think it would do better in the bed than toms and peppers? thanx, Kim
Would planting squash help control bermuda grass?
Summer squash, because it comes on fast and shades the ground, will do pretty well. Nothing controls Bermuda, but large fast growing plants minimizes its impact. It is still a good idea to rake out as many of the larger stolens as possible beefore planting.
Thanks Farmerdill, will do that!
