Turkey boys

Harpursville, NY(Zone 5a)

Here is a picture of my four Royal Palm Toms doing their dance this morning. I really need to find homes for at least two of them before long.

Those are beautiful birds. Where did you get them originally ? I've never heard of Royal Palm.

Royal Palms are a heritage breed . They are or were on the danger list. Meaning there are not too many of them being kept. I got them from a gentleman who lives a few miles from me. He wanted to hatch a few and I had an incubator so we split the hatch. He told me that the parents of my birds were show quality. I have never shown them but they sure look nice. Royal Palms are a smaller turkey . Males average 20-25 pounds and hens about 14 pounds. My turkeys are friendly and very nosey. They love my geese although the geese are not too happy to share the back yard. I have 7 turkeys 7 geese and 100 hens and a goat named Matilda.

I used to have quite a few of those myself. If you think the royals are pretty you should see the bourbon reds and slate blues!!

The turkey boys are driving me nuts. Too much shoving and pushing . Yesterday they actually drew blood. I need to find some homes for the extra boys soon. They are so pretty I do not want to see anyone of them injured perminently.

I've ordered several Royal Palm chicks to arrive this spring. Have you placed an ad in the local paper or on something like craiglist.... I would think someone would snap them right up. Maybe place an auction on eggbid and have it local pick up only. That type seems to bring a pretty penny on the auctions I have watched so far for eggs anyway.

I have no idea where to begin when it comes to starting an auction on Eggbid. I have placed ads at Homesteading Today and the local Bartercycle. People say they are interested then change their minds. I will probably end up taking them to the local Livestock auction in Unadilla. The problem with that is the fee the auction house charges. Thanks for the suggestions.
