Birds vs.window

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I have two bird feeders just outside my kitchen, place slightly under the porch and away from the porch posts to keep the squirrels from getting in the feeders. Some times the birds fly into the kitchen window and I need a way to keep them from slamming into the window so they don't get hurt or killed. I have a block house w/ stucco and no window frames so I can't nail bird netting over the window.

Stick a plastic hawk silhouette on the middle of the glass (on the inside). It'll scare the living daylights out of them for the first few days, then they'll get used to that it is harmless, but they'll always show that little bit of caution and give it enough space not to hit the window.

Also (dare I say it???!) don't clean the windows - if they are dirty, they are more visible. Clean windows are invisible and lethal.

there are plastic cling things you can order to put on your windows. I also have suncatchers in my window. Hang a mobile outside in front of the window. When they feel threatened they some may still hit the window as they just fly in a panic without looking. Try googling widow clings. I forget exactly what they are called but that's how I found mine
