Looks like my black australorps. Both they and jersey giants are supposed to be good mamas.

Looks like a sex link to me. How much does it weigh/ how big is it?

londonderry, Australia

it is much bigger than my ordinary laying hens and it just had 2 chicks

Well, maybe it is a jersey giant then. How big is much bigger?

Love that question: how big is much bigger? LOLOLOL

Jersey giants have blue jean coloured legs, but the
main telltale sign of a jersey, is the bottom of their
feeties are yellow.

so turn that mamma hen upside down and check out
her treads! LOL

i dont think it is an austrlorp because it dose not have black eyes and its legs are black

It may not be a Jersey, because Jerseys are too big to brood. They have a tendency to break the eggs, or crack them, causing them to go bad. I've been through that a couple of times already!

Also, sometimes looking at the bottoms of the feet don't always give you a true idea of what breed it is. Several of my Jerseys have been hatched with the default of having pink bottomed feet.

Where did you buy/get the chicken from? Did you get it from a feedstore, individual, or breeder?

from a friend

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

You may want to ask your friend where they got it. It could give you a clue as to what breed it is, or it just may be a mutt and that happens to be a good brood hen.

lucky,
Your hen looks like my Amercauna.
