I just got back after leaving my garden for 6 weeks while we were traveling . I was delighted to see that some areas had filled in nicely when i got back. Here's one of the good ones. There were many disasters too and a couple of casualties.

Tropical Winter
How lovely!!! Really tranquil and lush! Thanks so much for sharing! Hope the casualties aren't major.
Had forgotten there WERE places this lush in the United States.....always think of Costa Rica or Hawaii to see a sight such as this............thanks!!
Here's my bitter sweet Vireya 'Glowing Embers' it's first flower .
Sweet because its a perfect orange
Bitter because it should have a big dome of flowers and I only got one.

celt33040, are those traveler's palms behind your Charlie Brown Tree? They are gorgeous!!!
Jeri
They are indeed Jeri.
The best screen from neighbors you could ever have. And I know now that they're not even real Palms.
They're BOP? Check out this link: http://itotd.com/articles/242/travelers-palms

No sealing wax palm, but oh have i fought it. I've come across them a few times at quite a price but knowing that we'll be moving soon I decided to wait and see if they will be ok in zone 10b. Im not used to having to think about zones. There are many palms that thrive down here that just wont make it any further north.
Neil, now yu talkin my language..great garden, but more crotons, and a few hibiscus. LOL awesome job there!
Kyle
Neil, whats the name on the croton?
i believe it's pie crust something but i'm not 100% sure
Thank you so much for sharing your pictures. It's getting a little warmer here the last couple of days but it so nice to see something that doesn't look dead.

the color echoes in post #3176938 is simply marvelous.
also I wish my xant. hilo beauty would grow like yours. Mine just doesn't want to get big. I suspect it needs more moisture.

Kyle
Il'l be happy to get some of all of them for you, just give me a couple of weeks to get settled back in. Send me your address in a d-mail so i'll be ready.
Neil
Great pictures! I'm glad most of it made it through. Wondered if you were gone somewhere as we hadn't seen you post for a while.
Neil, thanks for sharing your private rain forest- its truly wonderful! Having a bad case of zone envy as I look out the window at the snow, lol.
Neal
LOL Zone Envy, the same thing happens to me when i get all the bulb catalogs and when i go to Cape Cod in the summer and see all those perennial gardens, trruly amazing. I know people will laugh at me when I say this but it would be kinda nice to have the winter off from gardening, theres no down time in a tropical garden.
The grass is always greener on the other side for gardeners. I console myself knowing if I lived that far south I'd miss the peonies, lilacs, and spring bulbs, and at least tropicals do well here, even if they do require extra effort. The challenges do make it fun and rewarding though :)
Waaaaait a minute. Um. You win. I'll take our blizzard. :)
Although my van is now invisible ... Looks like Sloppy Joe's Bar was, um, well, sloppy. :)
