May I ask how is your tree coming along? Has it produced fruits? In your zone?

Hi, Lily_Love, sorry not to answer sooner - been out of town in the boondocks with no internet the past week.

The tree is doing pretty well. Seems healthy - it's not growing as fast as it would if it got more sun, but it's tripled in height since I took that photo back in '07. It has not yet produced fruit, though there are trees in this area that do. If it was on the south east side of the house, it probably would've by now. I'm still hoping. :)

Hi Deb,

Thank you for your responses. I just recently found two young trees locally. I'm looking out for a location that will suit them best. Your responses will help me in my placement of the trees. Many thanks. Oh, For a back up plan. I gave one of my friends a tree to plant in her sunny garden since mine is a woodland garden with many large shade trees. Should mine don't make it to fruition. My friend may have a chance at it. lol

Sounds like a good plan. :) Good luck with them and I hope they do well for you!

Oh I also read up on their culture. It's said that these make flowers in the Fall, and fruits in the spring. I noticed some flower inflorescent on trees that are roughly 5-6 feet tall from where I purchased the trees. I will return to the site and take some pictures and add them to DG's pf soon in the near future.

Ah, my Loquat finally makes flowers this winter. Deb, how has yours progressed over the years?

So glad it's flowering! Wahooo!
I can't provide a progress report on mine as we have moved to a new home in another town. I gave the new home owners my phone and addy in case they had any questions or wanted to report any good news about the garden, but I don't think they're big on that. So, all I can say is that by the time we moved about a year ago - no blooms.

The good news is that we moved closer to the coast - a bit warmer - with a sunny garden! I'm planning to put a Loquat in asap because my neighbors have one and it blooms beautifully! :)

Looking forward to your photos!
Deb
