Went to Medford, OR for my monthly shopping yesterday and found that Lowes had filled the shelves on "Death Row." Many plants that are in good shape but discounted as new spring stocks are comming in I guess. Also orchids that had finished blooming for $5.00, big Bromelliads and a whole lot of what I call "abused" plants--some dead. I appreciate that Lowes does this. WM and Home Depot up here never seem to ever have a discount rack for abused stock. Here are an AV and a Euphorbia I got--4" pots at a buck a pop! On a different note WM had a new shipment of cacti and succulents with fake flowers hot-glued to them. Two ladies were commenting that they were so happy to find flowering cacti that they were going to load up--lol! I showed them the glue and they were quite irate! Anyway--It might be a good time to check at Lowes :-) Bill
Death Row
wow.....good buy....I bought that same plant not even blooming the pale yellow (which it will) for 3.95....good going!!
I bought a great big ZZ plant for $8 earlier this week; the same size pot was going for $20 a few months ago.
good find. Great plants.
I got a couple of AVs last week for 50 cents apiece - blooms were almost spent, but the plants were fine. You did good :-) LOL about the glued on flowers!!
Nice plants Rockminer! I really like the Euphorbia.
It needs bright light? LOL @ the cacti! :D

Good saves, Bill!

Thanks for all the friendly comments! I'm glad to see that others chase the bargains. A friend was with me and when he asked if we needed to stop anywhere else--I said "death row" and he just laughed and drove directly to Lowes--lol. I really do hate the waste at these stores. Bill
Love Lowes....I got two maidenhair ferns in 4" pots for a quarter a piece a few weeks ago. Trimmed them up and they have perked right up. I check out death row every time I am in there.
I have to go to town today--Guess where I'll be, lol!
Thanks for the death row tip. I stopped there yesterday and got an orchid for $2! It was in a 2" pot and it had fallen out, one leaf was ripped and one bent, but the flowers were perfect. Now I won't feel so guilty if I kill it.
Home Depot don't have an abused section because ALL their plants are abused.
