signs of spring?

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok...ok....maybe I shouldn't say this when our friends in the north are getting subzero temps right now. But my Maya is blooming in the greenhouse, bloom opened up today. And I have my first brug seed sprouting. Perhaps signs of spring? Or at least that these plants are tired of winter?

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

The last frost date for La Grange is the first week of March, still a three weeks away. Last winter, my Brugs bloomed their heads off in the greenhouse — artifical spring in there.

Oh Boy!!
Spring sounds good and congrats on your bloom, Kim!!
We finally have warmer weather this week. It's staying above freezing for now.
But sadly enough our last frost date is beginning of May.
Looking forward to bringing the brugs out of the basement!

The robins are here already! Spring must be around the corner!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

I saw robins on Sunday and again today. To me, that is the first sign of Spring, and it is only February.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

I saw some on Monday. I wonder what they were eating? We have a mesquite patch in one of the pastures and that's where they were.

St. Paul, MN(Zone 4b)

When I left for work this morning, it was -10 F. Spring still seems a long ways away here!

My small goldfish pond has been frozen for days, no robins have been sighted and the lows until Sunday are below freezing with highs in the 40's.

Someone please start a thread for posting last year's pictues. AND blue_eyes how about a picture of your Maya in bloom.

As we all know things are a little slow on the Brug Forum at present hopefully we can get things moving!!!

Off the Brug topic, but in the last few years, probably related to warmer winters (or maybe tougher robins), I have observed small flocks of robins stay the winter in Minnesota zone 4 at Lake Harriet and along Rice Creek, eating frozen berries. The migrating robins generally return about March 15, but these more permanent residents stake out a territory near the end of February. So much for robins as the sign of spring!

They stayed here in the Kansas City area all winter - still here - all fluffed up - poor babies!

I drove over to the coast yesterday to Half Moon Bay (don't you just love that name?) and spring is really here! All the fruit trees are in big bloom. Bulbs are springing up. It is just so beautiful esp. after such a terrible couple weeks of freezing weather we had here just 2 weeks ago.

So we will have spring beauty among the all dead tropicals! Life goes on.

I have my daffodils blooming here.

SPRING what a lovely thought, only we have 5" of fresh snow and temps below freezing, just keep reminding us it's coming

It felt like spring here this afternoon, and there are some trees in bloom. Strangely though there was frost on my windshield this morning. Well, nothing is perfect in this life! ;-)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Well Kim... sorry I got of topic on your thread.. Can you post pics of your Maya bloom? I'd love to see it or pics of your baby seedlings..

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Yes, please post some pictures of them, Kim. It's so exciting to know there are live brugs somewhere. All of mine were in the ground and probably didn't make it. We had some uncharacteristically low temperatures for weeks and weeks.
