This is Sandi....I rescued her from KFC where she was begging for food. She was obviously abandoned or dumped and I just coulnd't leave her. She ws too sweet. I just picked her up and threw her ini the car. She curled up in the back window of the car with nary a complaint, except a tiny 'mew' wehen we pulled up at the house. Took me an hour to get up the nerve to tell DH about her. We needed a yard kitty anyway to help kep the mice population down (we live in the country, sort of...with a cow pasture next door). I took er to the vt today. She had an eye infection and ear mites, but otherwise is in good shape. She got chked for FLV and got a rabies shot. Couldn't get the rest of the shots because she is preggers...figures, huh? Haven't told DH about the babies yet...they can't fix her for 2 weeks because they are backed up, by then it is too far into the pregnancy. I"ve got a freind in the fostering preggers critters gang who will help find homes for them. If they look like Mom, they should be easy to place.
Anyway, I named her Sandi as in Colonel Sanders. Also, she looks like the beaches just south of here...snow white, excpet for tiny grains of gray/black from teh occasinal black coral that has ben pulverized by the surf. She purred the whole time she was being examined...even when getting blood drawn and gettign a shot and eye drops. The only time she stopped purring was when a dog in the vets office showed itnerst in her. In fact, she hasn't stopped purring since I picked her up and put her in the car.
DH is kinda cool with it. We usually feed strays anyway, and there aren't any strays aroudn here. And he knows how much I envy my gardenign friends with Inside/Outside cats who can have the cats help them garden.
Here is a pic. So far, most of the pics are of her eating. She is starved...literally. Hard to tell how far along she is because of that...anywehre from 3-5 weeks...so it will be 3-5 weeks before we get babies. Yesterday I palpated her belly and felt one kitten that was fairly large, so maybe there is just one baby or two. I hope. Anyway, she is pretty dirty. I thought at first that she was a dilute calico, but in the vet's lights I could tell taht it ws just dirt on her paws, ears and tail. She is solid white with a gray divot on her head.
