Dance of the Goldens?

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Yesterday, I watched a pair of large birds circling over the next mountain. The flight circles would widen, then get tighter. Then one of the birds would fly under the other and they joined feet briefly. Someone seeing me might have thought I'd lost it, LOL, because I was under their spell. I'm sure I stood open mouthed in awe, as I muttered that I'd never seen anything like that before. It was just beautiful!

I was far enough away that I couldn't determine ID, even with my small binos, but believe it must have been a pair of Goldens.

Anyone else seen this awesome sight?

Not me! It does sound pretty strange. Maybe someone's growing something illegal up there, that they got into ? (lol)

Oh wow! No, I haven't but isn't that what eagles do when they are courting? How lucky you are!

Yes, I was going to say I've seen this behavior in wildlife films.

What a thrill - I also would have stood there mesmerized!!!!

I googled this and read it could have been the Bald or the Golden. It would be wonderful to see this from a less distant vantage point. At any rate, I was a very honored witness to this behavior! It was something I'll never forget. Thanks for understanding my excitment. ;-)
I'm gonna be watching the skies!

I admit it - I'm an eagle chaser!!! Yesterday I was sitting at my favorite little beach/park in between clients and an eagle flew overhead. I jumped out of my car, camera in hand, but he was already too far away. However, I saw him land on a tree so I hopped back in and literally sped over to as near as I could get. Got a few photos, but they were awful - not only was he still too far away, but it was one of the foggiest days I've seen in a long time so there's no clarity at all.

I had to go to a meeting last night and it was so foggy that driving home I couldn't go any faster than 10-15 miles an hour as I couldn't see the road in front of me. Fortunately it is not an overly busy road and it was only about four miles total.

Anyway, I can't believe I have resorted to chasing, speeding, whatever to get a photo!!!

Haha, be careful Murmur!

That must have been wonderful to watch!!. I always feel so privileged when I see nature 'happen' in front of me

Murmur, I though I was the only one to do things like that. The picture I posted, of the immature eagle in the broken off spruce tree, to be exact. I watch it land. Jumped into the truck, and drove as close as possible, to get the shot.
