Hi,
I have this on my wish list. Was a bit disappointed when I couldn't find it in the David Liddle catalogue, was hoping maybe there is another name for it? Or another variety with the red leaves?
Thanks,
LeeAnne
Hoya Sigillatis?
Ooooh ... there's one with Red Leaves? I sure would be interested in that one too!

I love the looks of the leaves on this Hoya and it says it can take some sun .... I thought all Hoyas were shade only! Love those red leaves!
Yes, I fell in love with it as soon as I saw those leaves...and then when I heard that maybe we might have a Hoya oder in the spring here in Canada, I went right to the catalogue and looked for it. Now I'm hoping maybe there is another one with red leaves.
I find H. sigallatis not the easiest to grow. OK...sometimes it is really easy...sometimes it isn't!!! It needs to be grown like H. carnosa...: cool, shade, let it dry out before watering, really well draining mix.
If you like red leaves...look at the H. pottsii group. There is one called H. nicholsonii which is really a H. pottsii...leaves are a dark red in good light...really a cool hoya.
Carol
thank you....going to look
Ooooh, will have to check out the H. pottsii group .... and also that H. merrillii. Would love to have one with red leaves or the red veining.
Really nice 'Lisa', Sue.
The great pottsii to look for is the H. pottsii 'Nicholsonii' or syn. H. nicholsonii. It has deep red leaves and is beautiful!!! DL sells it as IML 0022 I believe.
Just beautiful, Sue!!
Awesome Sue!
My H. obscura is very green, guess it's time to give it more sun.
H. australis 'Lisa' just love the newgrowth on this one. It is going on my wishlist:)
Thanks for sharing the photos.
Bea
BEAUTIFUL obsscura and 'Lisa' - I need to add "Lisa" to my wish list!
Anyone looking for red leaves, I would agree with Carol's suggestion of h. pottsi (nicholsoniae) - the leaves are, indeed, very red, and very cool. Here's a picture of my cutting of this pottsi - you can see how red it is compared to the hoya it's sitting next to (h. incrassata).
Both of the above are beautiful, have put them on my wish list. I googled H. Nicholsonii and came up with nothing, so thank you AH for the number ID.
LeeAnne
Ooops - it was the wrong IML# But it is in his catalogue.
The H. sigillatis is really neat...now is it on my "wish" list also. I don't have any problems with carnosa (except that they get too big too fast!). I got my "Lisa" off of ebay last summer, I suspect there will be more available again next year...I
Sue
Oh Sue your H. obscura is beautiful, what a lovely red. I love this plant
Oh, I want that H. 'sigillatis' .... Gorgeous! Another for the "wish" list. :)
Christina, beautiful sigillatis and clever signage. Cindy
Ditto on what Tami said Sue, beautiful color. My AL has some red leaves on the new growth too!! Sistah K yours is pretty too!!
Blessings,
Awanda
WOW....I want that one....wish spring would get here....
My wish list is getting soooooooooooooooooooooo long!
My hoya wish list is catching up to my African Violet one, and my Begonia one........then there's the Hibiscus one, and the succulent one....oh dear....the tropical one....gulp....
LOL ... I know just where your'e coming from!
I find H. sigillatis a bit on the "touchy" side too. Mine is still living, but it just doesn't ever grow and always looks rather 'dried out" or something... And concidering the leaves are only about an inch or so long....it makes a very tiny plant.
Carol...what is the IML number on the one (pottsii) you are showing here?
Threegardeners.....I know what you mean about having multiple wish lists. I also keep hibiscus and a scattered few other varieties of plants around. However, I must say that in the past few years...the hoyas definatley dominate and win the choicest spots available. In fact, I have phased out most all other houseplants for them. Fortunatly my other plant interests can stay nicely outside year round.

I also find H. sigallatis difficult to grow...especially with other plants around as it really doesn't like a lot of water. I was told to grow it like H. carnosa - coolish, dryish and in less light...
Marcy...that pottsii is IML 0018.
