---I put some Datura brug and tomato seed in peat ,pot [ super soil potting mix ] some in the sponge things , some in peat pods [ the one you wet and they swell up ] and rock-wool last year . all on heat/seed starter pads . Had clear plastic domes on all .
---I misted everyday - out of about 40 - 6 or 7 didn't get damping off and die . [ I added supertrive and H202 to water I misted with .]
---I was told I was watering-misting to much --that that was why I had damping off .
On 2nd batch - same thing - but I cut the misting down to every other day - same results
---3rd batch I just used rock-wool [ tore 1" cubes into pieces ] and put in tupperware containers [ the 3 for a dollar and 2 for a dollar at dollar store ] with the snap lids . When they got 2 to 3 inches tall , I put in plastic cups . But I cut the misting down to every 3rd day .
---After each time I either used the potting soil in yard or dumped into a garbage can [ I save the dirt from plants that die , snail eat or just get repotted . It goes in the bottom of 2 , 3 or 5 gallon pots when I replant ]
This year I switched to Kellogg's from super soil - so far - 4 pineapple seeds and 4 tomato seeds -[ havn't sprouted yet ] I tore 1" cubes into pieces ] and put in tupperware containers - 2 for a dollar at dollar store and put on a heated pad .
---I'll buy the tomato plants - out of Datrua seed and gave away the remaining Burg seeds - at that time I had 3 pods on my CG , but I think they froze .

I had some in peat pots last year.. . If your talking about the pelleted ones that are flat when you buy them and expand with water. I liked them okay, had no problems at all. The only thing I don't like is the netting. It doesn't decompose.. I tear off the netting before I planted in the ground or pots. If your talking about the pots you fill with soil.. I've never done brugs in them.. I don't like them, they don't decompose either, you can dig those up 4 years from now and they still have their shape. I don't like anything that does that.

Tonyjr If you had the dome on them, I don't think you need to mist them at all as long as you don't take the cover off. I rotted brug seeds when I used bottom heat. I think the heat from the lights keep them plenty toasty. :)

I do not like the flat type but I do like the cup kind because you do not disturb the little root when you plant them I just cut the cup down each side when I plant them to they can expand.

Paul, when I put peat pots in the garden, I make sure to remove any of the pot protruding above ground level. The peat top will act as a wick and draw all the moisture from the soil within.
