So many of us have lost furry (or feathered, finned, or scaled) family members recently that I thought it might be healing to start a memorial thread. As I mentioned in Bitsy's thread, I believe all experience has value, even our losses. We honor the lives of those who have passed by remembering the lessons they taught us along the way. And so, I would like to start this thread by acknowledging some of the most important lessons I learned from Bitsy. I hope anyone who is so inclined will use this thread to memorialize the lessons you have learned from those with whom you have shared your lives, as well.
Bitsy taught me the importance of indulging childhood. With no opportunity to be a goofy kitten, Bitsy grew into a reclusive, timid adult. When I met him and taught him how to play, he experienced a delayed kittenhood which changed his life forever.
Bitsy taught me that we all have a place in this world where our heart lives. Sometimes it takes a while to find it, but the search is worth the effort.
Bitsy taught me that a house is just building materials and not to sweat the small stuff (like shredded wallboard, shredded door jambs, soiled carpeting, etc.).
Bitsy taught me that deep connections can be built through proximity alone. Cuddling isn't necessarily necessary.
Bitsy taught me to expect the unexpected. He was among the most passive cats I have ever known, yet he hated Pea violently and to the depth of his soul.
Bitsy helped me learn more about the effects and management of CRF.
Bitsy taught me how to purr.
