Has anyone successfully grown oriental poppies in a container? They are supposed to be hard to transplant, so I am guessing they would not like a container. But I'd love to be wrong.

Personally I haven't tried, but I used to live in this old house that had big cement urns on either side of the winery (it was an old winery property) with poppies in them that came back year after year, so don't know why you couldn't.
If they don't like to be transplanted, that just means you shouldn't repot them frequently, there's no reason why you can't grow them in a pot instead of the ground.
