wildlife center in april? please lmk as salvia greggii teresa is going to go on sale and i want 2 of them. thanks.
is anybody going to the plant sale at the ladybird johnson
I am not going during the sale, I went there during one of their sales and it was a madhouse.
I usually go in May, when things have quited down.
What does the variety Teresa look like? I never heard of it.
Josephine.
oh and i dmailed you about the madonna lily. do you grow it? well google the teresa. it is really pretty. is white with 3 pink stripes. now how is that for different? do you drive down as a family outing? or do you just go for the plants? lol.
We usually make a day of it, and I use my time taking as many pictures as possible, and trying to identify native plants, it is good when you can see the actual plant. It is a great place to visit anytime.
It IS cute! I wonder if Schumacher's has it. If I get a chance next week, I'm going up by New Braunfels and I know they LOVE salvias!

Linda, Schumacher's has had it. Don't know if they have it now. I haven't had time to go there for some time. It is one of my favorite places to be though. Did you know they give propagation classes there. Or atleast they used to. Chip Schumacher has Parkinsons'disease and doesn't feel well alot of the time. If you have any interest in that you should absolutely give them a call. You can also get on their email list. They used to email a newsletter, but I haven't received one in a long time.
Oh yes, I took the propagation class last fall, but if they had the Teresa, I didn't notice it at the time. They have so much there, I was wishing I had more time available at the time to scout around the place and get a greater variety of cuttings. Would have been even better in spring, since I know I have lost some of the little plants from the cuttings because I have no greenhouse or anything and couldn't bring all that much inside the house. But he DID say we could come back and do more!
I wish I could do some more propagating there this spring, but I just don't see how. There's way too much going on. I have seeds I need to plant too.
i checked the ladybird johnson site and they say this is a new one just being intro'd this year. please, oh please, linda if you find them will you get me 2? i understand that many nurseries all over texas will have them. does this place do mail order?
I will check Schumacher's when I can, but doubt they will have the spring stuff out yet.
prob. not but if you see them let me know.
hmm...salvias are my favorite...I'd love to find that one myself....
well if you go to that plant sale lmk and i will send you some money to buy and ship to me. we may get it up here as it sounds like a new release this year.
I have had that salvia from Chip's before. You will love it and the hummers do too.
OK Barb, you've got me looking now! Very pretty salvia.
so this isn't a new release?
I think this is the same plant I received at a RU about a year ago.
Teresa is a pretty one! I hope it becomes more widely available soon. http://www.wildflower.org/?nd=2073
