When to plant spring bulbs

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

My son's youth group is considering doing a fund raiser with spring bulbs to gather funds for their service trip building houses in Mexico this summer. I am researching whether this idea will work for our area, so I want to know when the bulbs would need to arrive in order for people in this region to plant them at the right time. We would be ordering crocosmia, hosta, liatris, asiatic lilies, anemone, daylily, peony, gladiolus, iris, and astilbe. If you know if these can be planted in mid March or can be planted in April or May, please let me know. If they really need to go into the ground this month we need to bag the idea. Thanks for any advice.

March might be better, but I think you could plant any of those in April or May (I know I have).

April planting for some of those here too. And sign me up for the liatris if this goes through!

Poochella, your offer to buy something from our fund raiser is very kind, but I don't think I can take you up on it because that probably breaks the Dave's Garden site rules about selling things here. Your info about planting times is most welcome, however. We're going to go ahead with it, though I still need to get a bit more information from each of the companies we are considering working with (like minimum amounts and shipping costs). There are quite a few who do fund raisers, but I have concerns about quality, so I looked each of them up on Garden watchdog. We will go with Touch of Nature or Bloomingbulbs, both of whom have a good track record with customers. Unfortunately, their fund raiser catalogs are much more limited than their full range of products. Van Engelen's is also a good company, but you have to buy larger amounts to resell than our small group can probably manage. They would be good for a large school or church undertaking.

Oh yeah, the rules.....the rules... the important rules.... Well, you could accidentally Dmail me and casually make mention of a hypothetical bulb sale that may or may not be happening, or we could trade something. You trade me notice of the hypothetical fundraiser and I'll send in my order! How about that????

The youth group has to sign their contract with the service organization and set up an account at the bank for their fund raising efforts before I can do anything official. Hopefully this will all be happening within a week. I'll let you know when we are on a roll and give you my regular old e-mail so we can communicate that way. Thanks.

Actually, you could place an ad in the classifieds and not break any rules. :-) Might really boost your sales.
Just a thought.
