HI, I live on Long Island (Hi Pirl :-) and have been hanging around dave's garden for several months. I love this place. Just wanted to say hi to the North east forum people. Hope everyones winter is moving quickly (48 more days to spring).
I'm a big rose lover, have about 50 different types of rose bushes and I love clematis, hydrangeas, lilys, daylilys, tulips, daffodils, morning glorys, very fragrant plants, plumerias, amaryliss, etcs... I also love growing african violets and have collected many different ones the past few months.
Hi to you all on the Northeast forum
Welcome Maureen!
Yes, welcome! I joined DG with money sent to me for Christmas. Everyone has been wonderful!
Hi Maureen! Lots of folks around here share your plant interests. Anita (also from Long Island) is into African Violets too.
welcome anita. i'm not into african violets, lets just say, it is best that i stay outdoors with my plants and leave the indoor plants to my dh.
Hi Maureen! I'm over in Ronkonkoma and have similar interests. The AV forum here is a good source for AV lovers. http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/av/all/ . As for this forum, a great bunch of people. Welcome and I hope to see you in all our threads!
Anita

ok...I'm confused.... is Maureen's real name Anita??
Hi, Maureen,
Sounds like you have a great garden. Welcome!
HI everyone. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Hi Maureen! Mauren's real name is Maureen. Anita's real name is Anita LOL. By the way, I love the hydrangeas and clematis also. I'd be willing to do swaps on those also. I bought a hothouse white hydrangea last year cause it was gorgeous.(no idea what cultivar it is) It's outside now, but if it survives the winter, it's a must have!
Hi Maureen,
My name is Al ;)
I love hydrangea and the etc.'s
welcome to the Northeast Forum.
HI everyone. Louise - yes, we must trade clematis!! I love them and have about 10 different ones(plus 2 new ones on order;-) I was lucky and rooted 2 un=named white clematis in water. It took about 3 months but they rooted. I'm going to try rooting more this summer. Which ones do you have?
Gardenergardner - sorry, I don't know which a/v it is. I only started growing them about 5 months ago and there are thousands of them...... It sure is pretty though, and quite healthy looking for a rescue.
Hi, maureen. we've seen each around the rose forum. I spend a lot of time here, too. I also love A/V's, so we have a lot in common, too.
Hi Maureen, good to have you with us - the nicest people at DG hang out here!
Pirl/Arlene/Grandma/whatever
Hi, Maureen. Always liked the name Maureen. (Always liked Anita too.)
I have been spending more time in the photo forum, so less time everywhere else lately. I haven't had as much computer time as I used to, it seems. Unlike Al, who seems to permeate Photos and Northeast and Dahlias and.......Al either reads and types very fast, or I'm just very slow.
Very glad to have you around!
I like you too Nancy!
Hi all. My name is Alice and I'm new to DG. Sounds like you guys have lots of fun.
Can't wait to get into the garden like the rest of you and start trading off seeds.
Try to stay warm for now, and unless you are lucky enough to have a greenhouse, try starting some things indoors soon, like me.
I'm on Long Island too - Aquebogue.
Aquebogue! Wonderful. Southold here. Welcome to DG Alice! Come on out some nice summer day.
Hi Maureen, welcome. I love hydrangea too. I haven't been able to keep the deer from loving them as well. Perhaps this year I'll be able to see mine flower before the furry buggers get to them.
Hi Pirl. I have a good friend in Southold. We are in the Botany club together in Suffolk County Comm. College. We both took the Botany class. This college ended their Horticulture degree program, which I was aiming for, so I will receive the certificate. Oh well, there's plenty to do in my own backyard. I will try to post some info. from time to time. Talk to ya soon.
Just a few more out here and we can have our own Round-Up.
Be nice to see more from the eastern tip. What they have and what the deer have not gotten to.
No deer for us. They stop at the house next door, thankfully, and have for the last 15 years.
Hi, Alice. Welcome! (I know what you mean about the deer.)
Loretta
what is it about your yard Arlene the stops the deer?
Arlene,
Harry is so handsome. He does have a stern look on his face, though--doesn't look deer-friendly!
Loretta
In his imagination he's a massive vicious attack dog! We hesitate to inform him of the truth.
LOL
Pirl, he is adorable.
He loves me soooo much at dinnertime but not the other 23 hours and 55 minutes of the day. He's a real "Daddy's boy".
pirl, Harry is realy cute.
Thanks, Hazel.
Thank you, Loretta. It took me a while to get back on - been busy. By the way, Pirl, Harry is adorable. I bet he is what the deer are fretting about. I know we haven't gotten too much of the freezing cold temps, but today is a real winner. With this cold you want to see snow, not this threatening ice. Be careful out there.
I just returned from Riverhead and the ice patches on Sound Avenue are awful.
Of course, I had to stop and speak with Sherry at Agway, too, just to check on a few plants. I'm so ready for spring but I still want a blizzard - even a minor one would be fine. The wind felt like ice slashing at my face.
Hi. Yes, Sound ave. is always mess.
I can't wait to take time out and look for plants. Something new......
At the end of March Peconic River Herb Farm will (hopefully) have their big sale again. I love that place!!!
I was there only once. She was closing down for the season. I was very busy landscaping at the time. I'll have to make the effort to visit again. Thanks for the reminder!
