mixed feelings today

I will be 40 in June of this year and have had cats all my life. I can remember back as early as when I was 3 years old and the cat we had then. My home has never been without a cat but this is the first time i've had to have one declawed.

I am in the process of trying to buy a new home and both of my cats are furniture scratchers. These are the worst 2 that i've ever had when it comes to scratching stuff.

I guess i'm feeling bad about it because I am knowingly and willingly putting these 2 cats through a procedure that is going to cause them some pain and discomfort and i've never purposely caused any harm or pain to an animal.

I am a firm believer in spaying and neutering of animals and have always had that done to all of my cats. I know these 2 procedures cause some discomfort as well but it's never bothered me having that done. I guess it's just the thought of having fingernails and toenails pulled out and this being the first time i've ever had to do it.

I kinda feel in some way like i'm betraying them both or something but if I dont have this done my furniture is always going to look like cole slaw!! (SHREDDED)

I hope they dont hate me when they get home tomorrow!!!
