I will post on the other site, too. I just found lots of Desert Rose plants at Walmart in rockport, Texas......
they are grown down here all year around...I would be happy to purchase a/or some of these 12" tall plants and ship to you for something wonderful in the tropicals...they are 13.95 each....the big ones by spring and summer sell for 25.00 to 35.00 dollars.

Oh, thank you Gail, but I have not place to put any plants right now. However, come spring, I can send you canna rhizones. That's about as tropical as I have right now until my ginger lilies multiply.

Yes, I would love a Desert Rose plant. They use to have them all the time here in the Home Depot. Now that I want one they haven not had any. I have checked since Jan the Lowes and Home Depot here.

Bettygail: Does the Desert Rose have thorns? I tried growing a plant once that I thought was Desert Rose and it didn't survive. But, I'm not really sure if it was the same plant you are talking about. I think I saw somewhere on a DG thread where they have thorns? I am no longer into thorny plants ... been jabbed too many times. :)
