what is the proper way for someone to acknowledge receipt of

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I dmailed a lady on Monday to see if she had gotten my seeds...she hasn't replied yet. i received hers today. I hate to keep dmailing her, but I want to get off on the right foot with this trading. It was my first trade on this site.

Some people just don't get onto the site as often as others. That could be the problem.
I usually just say to let me know when my seeds arrive when I mail them out.
If I get mine and don't hear from them afterwards I wait a reasonable time and then ask again, saying I am worried about them getting lost in the mail, which is true. Then if you don't hear from them, just leave it.

Most of us are just brain weary and forget. I'm sure if you send a note acknowledging that you received hers, she will reply when she has a minute.

I always have the best of intentions - but after the seeds arrive and I do the happy seed dance sometimes I just get distracted!

Hope you had a happy trade, and will have many, many more!

Most seed trades I've had did Dmail me when shipped and when they got them and we left each other trade feedbacks which is nice !
I think it's nice to know they got them.
I guess now all you can do is wait she may not get on line often. I notice some people might not check their Dmails often either.

Hello Betty,

We should always consider others may not be on the computer
as much as we are. :-)

Some of us have recently endured heavy storms, loss of power,
perhaps other situations which do not allow for computer use.
Always keep in mind the other person may have something going
on that is far more important than a package of seeds. At the time
you made the trade with her, things could have changed overnight.
You never know in life.

The trader may let you know, or may even not contact you again, or may
have limited use of the computer, etc. Since we don't know, we should always
give a little extra time.

:-) I'm sure she'll contact you when she has a moment. Keep a happy
face on and know that you completed your side of the trade.

Ditto to all the foregoing - best to acknowledge the myriad ways life gets in the way and let it go if you never hear from them. However, I gotta confess that it does hurt my feelings in cases when I go to a lot of work to dig plants or clean seed and never hear anything - or worse, the other person never thought an acknowledgement or thank you was in order - but these cases happen very infrequently, and most often sharing plants and seed is one of the most rewarding things to do - IMHO.

I always like for people to let me know if they got the seeds because I answer a lot of threads and sometimes I just forget to send them out, I'll admit, I get busy and forget sometimes, I don't get upset at all if someone dmails me and asks where their seeds are, I love it cause if I offer them and then forget to send them out, well, that's not nice lol But it does happen.

I have missed out on a 'few' trades this year where I have sent my end and haven't gotten my seeds or plants, I have dmailed with no success and just chalk it up to experience and won't trade with that person anymore. The only thing that I really hate is that I have traded twice for one seed in particular and still haven't gotten it lol But I have gotten a lot of wonderful plants and seeds on here and that out weighs the bad trades, so all in all I am a happy trader!

I just hope if I have forgotten any trades that that person will dmail me and ask where the heck their trade is, I hate it when I dmail and ask if they got the seeds and then they don't answer back! So I just assume they got them :-) After you send so many seeds out, you tend to get them all mixed up in your head and forget which ones you sent out, I started a index file of seeds to send out and still forget to write them down sometimes lol

Why thank you Sequee, it's just Magpie Columbine, I think I have traded for this three times this year and twice last year, finally I bought one plant last year, just to see what the bloom looks like lol But I wanted seeds to plant them this year for more of them, any help would be appreciated lol I have some seeds to trade if someone wants a list :-)

you all are having fun, aren't you!!!!!!!!!!!! I got my seeds from her......she wrote me and told me that she had made so many seed trades that she didn't know whether she had mine.....she sounds funny.....am not going to worry as I have sent them.....we were 'LIED' to in south Texas for today and yesterday. They promise temps up to 60 and SUN...it is cold today and no sun............worst January in rain and cold since 1967 my farmer brother said. The carpenter has been telling me (LOL) every day this week that he would get my gro light tall stands over and the gro lights for over the heating mats...getting concerned about all the seeds I planted in anticipation of having gro lights for them to grow until this weather gets better......................oh well...............I need to get back in that attitude of gratitude fast....we have only had 2 days of sun in janurary and now 2 days in February.

Good to hear the trade is complete and all went well.

I have to mention on the note of Dmail not answered, I
am one of the world's worst at lousy multi-tasking. I open the
Dmail and think "I'll answer that one later." Then I end up
shutting the Dmail window and it's one of those out of sight
out of mind things.

Often, I have so much going on at once but I crave Dave's.
Sure enough, I have a few moments to post, then suddenly
the world lands in my lap, shoving all other matters aside.

So for anyone who has emailed and did not receive a reply,
this could be the case. :-)

Just a thought to pass on.

I also have to ditto Sequee about being on the other side of not acknowledging a trade, too - I really appreciated that trader dmailing and reminding me - all was well.

And, I have to ditto Wuvie, too - Wuvie, you have a contender for the throne of world's worst multi-tasker - I have not forgotten anyone to whom I owe dmail and owe apologies, too.

Another thing I do to try to remember to answer Dmails if I don't have time when I read them...I mark them as unread until I have time to acknowledge them...that way everytime I am on DG and look at my mail it is there "waiting" for a reply...
