Park's Cherub

Saluda, SC(Zone 8a)

Have you seen the illustration in Park's catalog of Cherub? Is it really possible to grow a plant in a container that would look like that picture? I got a plant last year and would love to grow it in the illustrated form.

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

There was a pic Monika had posted a good while back of a potted Brug that had a simlar shape. I searched for the thread but could not find it. It was beautiful! Mine sure don't look like that but I know its possible!

Are you so sure that is a single plant in that pot? I was looking at the picture. It's surely possible that several flowering plants were shoved into a single pot for the photograph....not saying that's the case...just saying it's food for thought

Dunedin, FL

Sure it is possible to grow a single plant potted in a container for the Patio, take a look of the attached Photo, it is very gratifying to get something like this, this single potted plant had 114 blossoms on it, you shoud try please try.

I forgot to mention this Photo is of APRICOT QUEEN

Oh my! that is a really nice pic!

Lovely plant! I've had great success with Brugmansia in pots. Keeping the plants mobile is a great asset when pollinating and when changes in season cause a shift in the amount of sunlight delivered to various places in the garden.
Nice photo.

I bought Cherub from Park's last year and it's now in my unheated garage, awaiting final death. It didn't do a thing all summer. Oh, it did get white flies once I brought it in for the winter, and that was what put me over the edge as far as disposing of it. Still, it's only 4° here at the moment and that brug has been in the garage for over a month, no water and it's still green! Not dead! Not crispy green, soft green! Now seriously, if that thing comes through the winter, it will get its own pedestal and a special watering can all its own.

While this brug isn't pink, it certainly is a prolific bloomer. More over, I had totally ignored this brug all summer long and had moved it to the "give to someone else" area. This is one Cypress Gardens in a large pot - - - and it shamed me into keeping it!

Wow nathalyn, that double tier brug just looks beautiful!

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

You think maybe if I printed out the pictures above and taped them to the wall behind my overwintering brugs they might get the idea?

I promise not to kick their pots if I do it!

The photo of Apricot Queen is fabulous. You certainly know how to prune your brugs.

Did anyone get any blooms from their Cherub that they bought last season?

Mickey,

Yes, I did get blooms from my Cherub that I bought last year. I'll come back and post a couple of pics, I didn't take but a few.

Here are some pics of 'Cherub'. These are from the first night it bloomed. It went on to have a couple more good little flushes before I had to bring it in for the winter. And it did color up more as the blooms aged.

WOW Burgele! I love the Apricot Queen--Great color and form!
I had received a Cherub from a good friend but unforunately lost it before winter. Will be getting another when warmer weather gets here.
I have Vixen starting to bloom in the GH so will post pictures when she makes her entrance. Infinity just started blooming before our freeze set in and it fried the blooms, even covered with a quilt.

Mary, I FINALLY got Vixen! 'Just waiting for her to get big and pretty like yours. Nat, I believe Cypress Gardens is the hands down winner of my brugs for "most blooms". She doesn't quit all summer long. I put her in the greenhouse every year trying to keep any height going that she puts on each year because she has no problems with dragging those many blooms on the ground.

Boy, I can't wait until spring. We've had three weeks of rain, and I'm really getting cabin fever. I guess I'm really luck with the weather in the northeast right now though. 'Talked with Renee today and they were minus19 degrees night before last.

What a small plant world...I have been looking at the Park Seed catalog this evening at the one picture you are talking about......the plant they send is 21/2 ".....so I think they cheated (LOL) with how many plants are in there....they say it is a dwarf one.

Casa Grande, AZ(Zone 9b)

I live in Casa Grande , AZ and bought one of parks cherubs last fall. {2 of them} put them in a container and nursed them through the winter in my GH. just set it outside yesterday, it is about 2 ft tall and blooming nicely. Ill get some pics today

Dardanelle, AR(Zone 7b)

Im very envious my brugs got a real hard frost before got them inside so this year will be slim on blooms. Just like starting over. Hope they all make it back. Not all of them have put new growth on. Will be much more carefull to get them in this fall. Judy

Cave Creek, AZ

Well. I must be doing something wrong. I didnt'get any blooms on my Cherib! I just checked the plant is in the green house doing ok. I think for me it's still too early to put it out side even though we're having wounderful weather. The plant just put out a nice new thick branch for the roots. It was well fed and taken care of so this puppy better bloom!
I don't have the catalogue but wasn't the color a darker pink?
Bigered, do you have any other brugs. How do yours take the heat? I think I had to water every day last year in the heat. I was for ever moving them to find a happy place for them.

Mickey,

The color of the blooms are darker, the first pictures I posted are from the very first night, so the color did not have time to develop. Here are a couple more pics showing how the color did develop.

David,
Thanks for posting another photo of Cherub. What a great bloom. I love the size and the color. I hope I can get some blooms this year. I'm sure I will. She ate quite well last year and the plant has grown quite a bit this winter.
