Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Heres some more new seedlings that have just started blooming. I love the large red eye in this seedling, the edges are a little messed up, this was day 3 for the flower.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! My favorite is the little wrinkly one.
(at my age I can empathize with wrinkles LOL)

Love the colors. I can also identify with wrinkles, but it isn't my favorite subject. LOL! Very pretty blooms, Kyle.

You're killing me with this stuff, Kyle...

Where on earth do you work where you have access to all this beauty?

how old does a seedling need to be before it starts to bloom ? Paul

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

gordo I work for the city in the parks dept. I grow plants and flowers for the public displays downtown .

Paul, they can bloom anytime after 5 months. Some won't bloom for up to 2 yrs.I had a seedling years ago that even with a greenhouse it took 4 yrs to bloom. It was a huge gorgeous deep orange, it was beautiful beyond compare. That was the only flower and it never bloomed again so it became compost.Culling inferiors is critical to a healthy and productive gene pool.

Ah...I see. Nice job you have there.

another new seedling this one is history, very poor color and shape.

History looks exactly like the ones they sell at my local Lowe's. LOL

Big sigh here, you may not think it is up to your standards but I think it is still beautiful.

edited to correct my less than coherent thoughts.

I like the colors, I think it's lovely.

Culling is important. It is about 7 ft tall and only has had 1 or 2 flowers so it isn't feasible as a garden plant. Bad genes.the mother plant is ooh la la and so far is far superior to this offspring.
