Is this a Hoya or a Lipstick - Cross Post

Tempe, AZ(Zone 9a)

I started this thread on the ID forum and it was suggested that it may be a Hoya, which I suspected when I purchased it.

I've been told by the vendor that this is a Lipstick Plant, but I really think it might be a Hoya. The vendor was emphatic that all she ever had was H Carnosa, but I purchased H Kerrii from them a few weeks ago! The leaves don't have the same configuration and aren't as stiff as the Lipstick and don't have the same veining as mine does, but it could be a different variety. The underside is pale green and it has a very thin darker green margin around the underside of the leaf which leaves me to believe it might be a Hoya. Any ideas would be appreciated. Cindy

Definately a lipstick!! I have several varieties and it's amazing at just how much they really do resemble hoyas. I'll try and get a pic of one today and post here. It's a beutiful plant and I only wish that my hoyas looked like it does!!!

Thank you all. I appreciate the help in identifying this plant. It is really beautiful and it does resemble a Hoya I have. Someone on the ID thread suggested feeling the leaves, nicking the stem for milky sap, and the noticing the configuation of the leaves on the stem to determine it is a Hoya. At least now I can research and learn how to take care of this beautiful Lipstick plant. Thanks again, Cindy

I agree that its a lipstick and a "Diva" as well. Good luck with yours!

When I bought mine, the tag just said lipstick plant. I have no idea as to a variety name. I checked the names on this site and the closest I came to a positive ID was (micranthus)

Sorry my plant is without bloom right now so I dont have a pic of the flowers. It is loaded with seed pods though!

This is a shot of the entire plant. Sorry for the glare. I took the pic inside the gh and that's the glare from the light shining through the top of the gh.
