You sure must be doing something right! I had no idea a cutting that small would try to bloom. Mine are just sort of sitting around looking at me with only an occasional new leaf, promptly followed by losing an older one. Can't wait to see if that bud opens :-)

There are a few photos floating around the forum of tiny plants sporting flowers larger than than they. Explanation: cutting was taken from above the "Y". I would think that cutting off the bud would redirect the energy to vegetative growth, but I could be wrong.

Last winter, I had more Brugs blooming in my greenhouse than had bloomed outside. Most of my Brugs didn't "Y" until they went into the greenhouse. This year, I have a bunch of pathetic looking plants. The plague of grasshoppers was so bad that many of my plants were eaten down to stubs and are just beginning to recover. I did lose quite a few though — the grasshoppers ate some plants leaving only a slight hole in the ground. They seemed to prefer some over others. This year, at the first sign of grasshoppers, I'll be out there with tons of NOLO.

Your cutting is not confused...looks like it knows exactly what it wants to do, produce blooms!

Just another pic of that crazy log cutting . it decided to go ahead and bloom. I probably should have pulled the bloom off to help the plant root but I couldnt resist watching it
