This is how I rooted my dwarf Singapore Pink cutting

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

With a humidity dome made from a clear soda bottle, on a heat mat, in a southern window with an Ott-Lite. It took 2 1/2 months from potting the cutting until the first leaf started to unfurl, mid-September until early December. Now it's too big for the soda bottle!

Can we see a picture of it in its present state?

When I either get pictures developed or get a digital camera, whichever comes first !

Nicely done, Beverly!

Thanks Clare.
And Hetty, I ordered a digital camera today so will be able to post pics regularly as soon as it comes (I hope). Best thing for diagnosing what ails the plants.

Wow, that is amazing. I would have thought a cutting would cook in there; these are some tough plants folks.

Beverly, you will LOVE your digital camera; I truly do not know how we ever got along without them. Never leave home without mine......

Alice, my version is a little larger, but the idea is the same. There are two heating pads inside and a lot of heat and humidity.

LOL, lack of humidity is not something we worry about around here.

Clare, I have a couple of those little GH;s, I keep them for tender plants on cold nights but we have been lucky so far this year. Mayb e I need to use them for starting plummies.

Alice, I bought this one for $9, and I am kicking myself for not buying ten of them at that price. They would be great for covering tender plants on cold nights, and they are great for starting cuttings too. They hold in a lot of heat and humidity. I've got a bunch of cuttings started now in my one. If I ever find them again for that price, I'm going to buy a bunch of them.

$9 for that? Where, Clare (not meant to be a poem :^ D )? Those are terrif. I'm planning to buy clear plastic and just use clear tape to put it in place around my baker's rack (pictured above, where the plumie et al are, in the southern picture window). If you'd bought all ten, I'd be begging you to resell one to me.

Beverly, I did something like that too -- wrapping a rack with plastic -- last year (see pic below). I bought my pop up small one for $9 from Harbor Freight Tools web site: http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=greenhouse It was originally $18 but had a clearance price of $9. When I went back to the site to get another one or two or three, I found it had been discontinued. Occasionally, I find ones like it at Big Lots or Target so check places like that too.
