Favorite variety of rosemary?

Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi!

I received a rosemary plant from a swap we did here in NH two summers ago. I absolutely LOVE it! It's so aromatic--like the "Christmas tree" rosemaries they sell at HD at Christmas. Except that the leaves are large and soft, which makes me think it's Pine Scented Rosemary. If so, that's my favorite, hands down!

What is everyone else's favorite variety of rosemary?

So far, it's 'Arp' since that's the only variety I've had survive through the winter here.... In its second summer, the plant was perhaps 3 feet tall and wide, maybe larger (I should measure). There are other varieties with a better (more delicate) flavor, but 'Arp' is my favorite for sheer vigor!

Ditto on ARP here, too. Very hardy.

However, this year I'll also be trialing "Hill Hardy", another Rosemary reputed to be easily hardy to zone 6. Will let ya'll know more about it once I've grown it out (and cooked with it!).

Obviously it's been a while since this question was asked but my vote is for Tuscan Blue. I have a very large plant which has been in the ground for probably 5 or 6 years. Admittedly, I have not even taken good care of it and the lower branches are bare. Very interesting look. It is about four feet tall. I did some selective pruning this spring and as I say it is interesting .... a very twisting, windblow look. I have other Tuscan Blues in containers and they have all done well here. Definitely do NOT need pampering.

Gorizia, it has stood up to frosts that killed the Arp variety. It had 6 inches of snow on it last winter and still managed to bloom for me! Great plant, upright habit, great flavor.

tarantella, WELCOME TO DG!

Will have to check out Tuscan Blue...I've heard of it but never have grown it (yet!). It sounds pretty interesting to me! (By the way, since you are so close, if you like, come by the Hillsborough Farmers' Mkt tomorrow and I'll have an Arp or Hill Hardy rosemary plant for you. It'll be your 'Welcome to DG gift', my treat!)

ren...Gorizia is another new one for me. Will be keeping an eye out for it.

Horseshoe, how very nice! I will try and do that .... my car has an appt. at 9 a.m. so will try to come by after that. I've never been to the Hillsborough Mkt. I guess I will just follow the signs .... how will I know you?

Once you get off the Interstate just come straight into town . After you cross the bridge turn right at the second light, then a quick left into the parking lot. You can't miss it. (I'm the ugly guy wearing a big hat and no shoes!).

Hope to see you there!
