Freeze Warnings for Central Florida

Geneva, FL(Zone 9b)

I hope all you fellow Floridians from Orlando -northwards are putting your babies to bed tonight. We are in for some COLD weater the next two days. I spent most of the day moving plants and making preparations just in case. My small brugs are in the already jammed greenhouse and my most treasured and special specimens are in the large foyer of my home. The living room smells heavenly now as a few are blooming nicely.

Anyway, ya'll stay warm out there!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Good luck! Remember, Better safe than sorry! I learned the hard way!

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

It will actually make it into the 40's here tonight!!! Brrrr!!!!

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

I don't have a greenhouse but I did gather up my potted brugs and grouped them all together in a wind protected area. I will go out tonight and cover the group with blankets. Everything else is pretty much on thier own.

Myrtle Beach, SC

Take cuttings if you think they might be affected :) God bless and I hope all your brugs are spared :) Margo

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

I moved all mine in to my block house

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

It will be the first freeze of the year here for me. Usually I get a freeze right after Christmas.

Myrtle Beach, SC

Hugs Delisa !! I think I see you on EBay a bunch :)) I can't remember the EBay nic but the plants sure look familiar, LOL :)) God bless, Margo

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Delisa, I was wondering if you were going to get freeze to. It was 32 when I went to work last night. : (

We're surrounded by water on three sides, so we've escaped without injury here in the St. Pete area.
It's always a few degrees warmer here than the mainland.

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

it got to 37 here last night every thing is ok

Good for you, Paul. Its not to bad when it gets to freezing - if you keep the plants hydrated and the leaves constantly wet.
Its worse when it hits freezing and its windy. It takes a few months for frostbitten and windburnt leaves to replace.
I think that's the conditions I like the least.

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

We got lucky here a little bit of a frost but the outside brugs made it and the night it was supposed to be in the twenties it came close but no frost.

Hi back at you Margo! I have sold a little bit lately on ebay.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Good luck to you all. If it drops to 28 or below it is devastating to so much! I will keep my fingers crossed for you all.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

I hope all is well with our Florida brug. friends, you have all been in my thoughts as those temperatures drop.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I've been watching this thread too.. I hope all is okay!

Myrtle Beach, SC

Many Prayers here too. I hope everyone took cuttings of their favorites. That's what scares me....a frozen plant and no cuttings. That's what happened with my AxelRose & DD, frozen all the way to the ground. With any luck, there will be shoots coming up from the roots. Otherwise, EBay, here I come, lol :)
God bless everyone, Margo

Geneva, FL(Zone 9b)

We hit 32 here for a short period, but all was safe in the greenhouse and indoors. My new cuttings were right under a light in the greenhouse and nice and cozy.

Okay--one more month of this schizophrenic weather and Florida's spring shall arrive. I cannot wait! Delisa, Gordo, Phicks, and the rest of my fellow Floridians--I am happy to hear ya'll fared well!

Brad
