just arrived here

Harpursville, NY(Zone 5a)

Hello , I just found this site today. It looks like a very interesting place to visit. I have about 100 hens and 5 roosters. We sell eggs to a local farmers market. I have a Wards incubator from about 1968 and hatch chickens, goose and turkey eggs. I sell the hatchlings at about 1 week of age locally. I will soon be shipping fertile Welsumer eggs if the weather warms up some.

Wow, that's a lot. I don't have any. I'm a poultry wannabe.

Welcome!

hi
what are welsumer eggs?
we have dominiques and black jersey giants. last summer mrs. bocker and mr. bocker
raised a clutch and now i have an additional 4 teenage dominique roosters, ready for
the pot!

we also have the NOISIEST Talouse geese, one gander and his two girls. oy are they
noisy!! their best friends are the three Pekin ducks they hang with , who are so adorable
I just have to sit and watch their antics. The male duck chases the gander around the
barns , around and around. at least I think thats whats happening!

we sell our eggs from the house, we have a few steady buyers, and we sell our eggs
for $1 a dozen. our chickens and fowl are totally free range and run around the pastures
and house and planted fields happily eating who knows what and tons of pellet food too. : )))
We get about a dozen eggs a day from these girls. ! Whew!

I love my chickens!

Hi there!

I'm a pet chicken type of chicken lover. I have 12 spoiled gals of a good variety. Standards ~ Silver Laced Wyandotte, Buff Orpington, SexLInked, Barred Rock and a very silly black cochin frizzle. Bantams ~ 3 silkies ( one splash, two white) Silver Laced Wyandotte, 2 white brahmas a buff brahma.

I just love my girls!

Wow - a buck a dozen?!?! Here they are up to $4 a dozen! The entire west coast is just so expensive compared to the rest of the country. Why is that?

I think harpersville is down by binghamton

Harpursville, NY(Zone 5a)

Sorry yes Harpursville is 17 miles north of Binghamton. So far we have had very little snow here. I sure hope it stays that way. Anyone need a new Royal Palm Turkey Tom? My boys are getting rambunctious and I am worried someone will get hurt if I don't find them new homes.

Oh I can't wait for spring! I want to get some more chickens. I'm such an addict now! I'm hoping to breed one or two of my silkie girls. But I have to hire a silkie roo first. LOL.

Hey MommaGoose! I have been trying here in Georgia to get White Palm Turkeys for a year now! They are so Expensive! Just one Tom at Auction will run you $65.00, and that is from someone you dont know! The least expensive is for a Tom at about 6 weeks, and he will be $20 to $25. To get a pair I can expect $100 and up, Whoooeeeee! Just cant do it! Ordering Poults is so "iffy", cause they are so delicate! I wish I lived closer, to you, cause Royal Palms are High on My wish List Now!

How about Royal Palm eggs Eufaula ? I incubated my own. Actually, there was a man nearby with Royal Palms who wanted to have a few hatched . He gave me 45 turkey eggs and we split 50% 50%what I hatched . I sold all but 7 which I kept. Unfortunately I picked 4 males and 3 females. Out of all the poults I hatched only two died in the first week. One was weak and drowned in the waterer and the other was just found dead. The trick is to hatch a few chicks with the turkeys. The day old chickens teach the turkeys to eat and drink. Worked like a charm for me.
