We purchase this home in August. The owners had cut large trees leaving the yard bare. We have 3 little dogs and needed to make a fast fence for them to roam and potty.
Our plan: The front yard has a beautiful wooden picket fence. I want to put a wooden picket fence from the side of the house near the concrete walk way to the end of the walk. Continue the picket fence up along the driveway to the small hump where cars park and a garage will soon be built. Then put a chain link (less expensive along the top row by the parking/garage area. The black trailer will be moved further back on the back side of the garage. Then remove the current change link fence that boxes in the yard.
The wooden privacy fence is the neighbors who are NOT friendly and threaten to 'loosen a board' if we don't put our own fence up beside theirs. LOL
We plan to haul in lots of top soil since the yard is so uneven (the former owners had 15 bird dogs!!).
NOW - I need YOUR HELP:
I want a small stream that probably will start at the hump along the parking area/old stump. A narrow stream that has a small waterfall at that hump area and flows naturally toward the house ending in a SMALL pool, maybe 36 inches or so - not a pond. Allowing water for the dogs to drink or play in.
I have planted 3 crape myrtles and moving 4 from mom's house. I have 3 dogwoods planted and lots of perennials I stuck in the ground by the current chain link fence when I moved, just to keep them and not leave them at the other house.
I want this to be a garden that reflects the 1910 era of the home. I think lots of roses, an arbor, climbing things on the fence, maybe a brick walk way at some point, lavinders, etc. Take a look at the following pages and help with suggestions for design, plants, colors, styles, etc.
Take a look.
