Allison .... I have a Pow Wow I got from Bluebird's too but it doesn't look as good as yours! I also got 'Paumanok', 'Rodeo Cowboy' and' Nortex Honey Comb Haven'. I love them! I'm sure I will order from them again in the future .... all but one was blooming when I got them and very healthy.

Here's a photo of an Optimara one that I haven't ID'd yet .... got it at Wal-Mart last week. Pretty little one.

Here's another Noid from Wal-Mart, but it didn't have Optimara's label on it, so I have no clue what the name is on it. I usually just buy it if I like the colors, or think it's pretty!

Allison, I just wanted to say I'm crasy about Pow Wow. I bought this plant last year, but I'm sorry to say it didn't make it. That's why I don't hang out in the AV forum, I feel like such a horrible AV mommie when I do, compared to all the fine AV gardeners in that forum.

My favorite AVs are the ones w/ true red flowers, like PW

Lin and Vosner Thanks. Pow Wow is a great plant ! I grew a some by leaf back a 2-3 years ago gave them away blooming ! When I got Pow Wow a good looking leaf was broken so I did put it down. It's in the living on the kitchen windowsill so will see how fast I get babies not much light. Maybe I can grow you one Vossner !
Oh don't feel like that your a good Av Mom. Maybe it was not healthy to begin with. Many plants coming from Vendors use soil mix to heavy and need to be re-potted. They grow them under control conditions sometimes making them hard to grow when we get them home. One good reason to start off with babies or put a leaf down of each plant you can for insurance and sharing . I learned that from many long time growers at local Av meetings.
Vosser you should play Bingo with us in Feb :))
Lin Love your new plant so pretty !
Nortex's Honeycomb Haven great plant and Vintage !!

Vossner...you need to continue to hang out in the A.V. forum. I have had many casualties with my vioelts...but continue to try and at this point I am actually haveing some success.

Looking forward to reading about your future success with your african violets. :)

Alllison, does your Space Cadet have REALLY spooned leaves? I have two, and they both look strange....

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Space Cadet is not supose to have spponed foliage. To be honest I've grown several of them , If I recall I bought one from Bluesbirds a year or two ago took it apart and grew babies all which were real nice.
The Space Cadet I got from them a couple weeks ago the foliage was poor, after taking off damged old foliage and re-potting it is lopsided one side has no leaves. I would have crowned it and started new but the crown was too small . It does not really have any variegated. To be honet all the plants I got are variegated except Wonderous Girl and none were vareigated except the mosaic , which it's pretty hard to mess Mosaic up its the most stable . Pow Wow did not have mant leave just some whimpy ones and one broken off which I put down .
But it is looking much better now. I had to doctor them all. Mac's Just Jeff roots were small and jorrid did not look healthy I took all roots and soil gone trash it got the works everyone got new pots and sterile soil and neem oil and blue dawn mix baths.
Here is info for Space Cadet it's a gorgous plant when grown well .
Even the leaves on mine are not large enough to put one down.

Wow, you could eat cereal with one of my leaves. I am tossing them. They are not attractive as they are. Thanks. Not sure what the deal is.

Maybe cold ? There is a list why on Optimara I posted it over where Maureen's new Love Bite from Rob's was spooning. Spoon foliage is nice on plants that are supose to but not always good other wise.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)
