Something To Think About

Silver Spring, MD

I have been thinking about this all day and have decided to post.

There are thousands of violets and for each of those thousands there are probably hundreds of variations on how to care for them. What works for one may not work for another. There may be some who agree on one idea and others who are certain they are wrong. But one thing is certain there is not absolutly one way of caring for violets and certainly not one person who knows everything.

During the two years I have been posting on the forum, I have become aware of three people who have had their feeling hurt so deeply they can no longer post. That, to me, is not right. There must be room for sharing an opinion that is different from others without being attacked.

Many times I have read about sadness or illness in the lives of those who post. Immediately there is a rally in support of that individual. Why then are we not as loving with those who voice a different opinion about the care of plants or a problem a plant might be having. Seems to me we should be able to read what someone says without causing hurt to that person.

I don't expect any response to this post and frankly don't intend to look at it a second time. I simple hope it will be read -- thought about -- and remembered. We are all just trying to do the best we can each day. Let's try to help eachother instead of find fault.
