I may just have to bite the bullet and order it!

GH, my dear friend....since when did they reclassify Amaryllis as Philos? (Ü)
(I think you linked to the wrong plant).
I wanna see the Philo;)

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

Whooops! LOL Sorry about that. I was going a little crazy last night oogling all the plants on Asiatica. I had just been looking at the variegated Hippeastrum. Will try to link it when I get off work. Just so you know, it's a Philo Selloum that looks like curly lettuce, grows compactly, rather than climbing. Would make a superb houseplant!

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL!!
I was there today, too;)

Do you remember some people on GW talking about a similar plant last year (or was that 2 years ago?)GH?

I know that Jen had bought one, and I had seen them at a WM in LaCrosse (OK..that was 2 years ago!) and thought they looked that way just because they were packed together so tightly....I guess I should have bought a few!! AAaarghh!!!
They were in 4" pots, and they weren't too expensive, if I recall.

Okay, try this link:

I am particularly fond of the way they describe 'Little Crunchy'. Hahahaha!

And hey, Nan, this one is $45. Lordy, might have to be a birthday gift. LOL

GH

Oh, no!!

GH...I think those ones at the WM (I'm wondering if they were only available in Midwest stores?) were something like 4.50!! I'm serious!!

There was much debate about whether they were just plain old P. selloum. Some of us swore they had to be, others thought it may have been a new hybrid of selloum.....I passed them by thinking they were P. selloum....I really do think, now, that they were these! They weren't a terrible price, but I did think that was kind of high for a 4" pot of P. selloum, at Wal Mart.

(Great as Asiatica is, they do, once in a great while, sell things as 'rare' that aren't...completely.)
I could just *kick* myself, now!!

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm feeling your **kicks***......LOL I hate it when I do that too. I will NEVER do it again. You always think you'll see that plant again. Sometimes you don't, or when you do, it's highway robbery.

You lucky gardeners in the US! You have so many more places to order from and so many more rare plants! Lucky lucky you :D

Nan, I guess it's possible, but I seriously doubt what you saw at Walmart was this philo. It was most likely a pot of plain old selloum seedlings.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Well, you know, Carter...that's exactly what *I* thought they were, so I passed them up.
I'd thought the 'curling' was due to some environmental factor.....but others had also seen them and some of them bought one, and then the debate started.
At that time, I really thought they were the same old same old....but now....???

Oh well...they're long gone, anyway!

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 6b)

Hi!

I am new to this thread. Has anyone ordered from these folks before?

I really like this one. It looks like the Horseface that Carter sent me last year. It is still doing well.

I love this variegated one. I am very tempted to order it.

Thanks for your input.

Paul, the service and plants are superb. You do get what you pay for, in the case of Asiatica. I ordered from them year before last and was well pleased with the plants.

P. Squamiferum 'Magic Mask' is quite pretty. I have the species, with the red haired bristles. I think it's so very amazing.

Go for it, Paul!

I've never ordered from them either...it's the shipping that hinders me, though I have heard only good things about their plants, and most of them aren't available elsewhere.
GH...can you tell me what the average size of their plants are? Maybe some examples?
TIA!

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

I ordered a Hoya Kerrii 'Variegate' and a Aglaonema 'Pride of Sumatra'. Both were sent in 3 to 3.5 inch pots. The hoya had about 5 leaves and the Aggie had about 8. No pics available to show how they looked at the time of shipping.

Sounds good!
Thanks for the info.

How are they doing now?:)

Livermore, KY(Zone 6a)

GH I bought one of these at walmart, I will try to take a pic of it tonight for you to see, bought it Oct 05.
