Looking for 1/2 people to split Seeds of Change order

Paris, TN(Zone 6b)

Hi ya'll,

I followed Sequee over here...lol!

I'm placing an order with Seeds of Change for veggies. I want a wide variety for continuous planting this year, but the costs are killing me. Trying to convince DH that we can grow for less, but with initial seed costs, amendments, SFG plots, etc. it's a hard sell at the beginning :)

So I'm looking for one or two people who would be interested in splitting an order with me. The only thing that probably won't be in here will be maters and peppers, as I have already ordered most of those. I will pay for the initial order - you can just paypal me or send a check if that's easier for you. If there are more than 1 or 2 that are interested, I'll do a larger order.

I figured this would be easier and kinder than posting 50 "I'm looking for this seed" posts...LOL!

I thought I'd see if there was interest.

Thanks for reading!

List with # of seed per pack (so if 2 of us split we'll each get half a pack; if 3, 1/3 of pack, 4 -1/4 pack) I think four people would be the max for each of us to get a little of what we want. I'd like to get at least 3 of us to keep my costs down. Postage to you would probably be the standard .63 in a bubble mailer; I'd provide the mailer.

We get a 5% discount for web ordering, and the rough total right now is 93.00 plus 10.75-12.50 shipping depending on what the final order amount would be.
Seed packs range from 2.59-2.99 pack.

I will take the time to type out the cultivating instructions from the pack into D-mail for you and send the seeds in the little see-through envelopes.

Thanks Diviya - take a look at the list and see if it contains things that you too, are interested in. I hope my tastes aren't too eclectic for others..lol!

Hi -

I would be interested in the following:
any of the beans, carrots, cukes, eggplants, kale, lettuce, okra, peas. I think the only things I would really need the instructions for would be the kale. I'm sure everything else is the same as with other varieties.

I'm just starting out with the SFG this year - is it your first year too? I'm a little anxious. Because my DH likes to eat the fruits of my labor, but doesn't want to be burdened with looking at the vegetable garden, I figure this is the best way for me to go. But, I'm concerned about whether 6 inches of depth is really enough, particularly for the tomatoes. I would like to do 12 inches of depth, but it will really be too expensive, and I may need to move the beds next year, and I figure it will be much easier to move 6" beds, than 12" beds. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Diviya

Thanks!

Thanks to both of ya'll :) I've made note of those things that you both want. I'll see if anyone else might want to join in, and then get in touch with everyone to confirm orders by D-mail.

Diviya: I think the tomatoes will do fine in SFG, primarily because of the way they are placed in the trench to establish roots all along the stem - to establish a good root system. The book does state at 12" depth for carrots, so I'm either going to build a 12" smaller section or just plant my carrots in containers this year. I've tried to choose the shorter length carrots and will probably pick them young anyway.

Diviya - check out Cubed Foot Gardening, too. ($10 on Amazon.) His books an easy read and I really like his methods. I'm going to do several boxes of each method to see if I can adapt what works best for me.

We have loosened the dirt about 4-6" in the area where we will be laying the beds, so I'm building mine at 2"x10"x4'. THAT should accommodate anything!

BTW, H - when I read your heading, I thought you were looking for half people! I had to open the thread just to see what you were up to!

LOL...I have about half a brain right now, but there is probably more of me than 1 people should be ;)

Must remember to see if the library has that book...(off to find sticky note to put on library books due soon...)
