OT but what a nice surprise

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a mini greenhouse inside my big greenhouse that I use for my cuttings. I have not paid much attention to it lately because it basically takes care of itself. But today I was doing some cleaning and I looked over at the side that I never see and there was a flower. And I thought "what in the world is that?" Well after opening it up and taking the plants out I found these two (I think Impatiens) buried in the back. So I took them out and smiled and just savored the moment. Old man winter may be around for now but every once in a while the spring/summer shows off its beauty. Anyway, it was a very nice surprise.

Here is another photo of them. I wonder if they will make it through the winter until spring when I can plant it?

Jesse, do you have a picture of your greenhouse? : )

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes I do but I am rearranging it and trying to get it all ready so I can take some photos of it tomorrow. I worked from 9 pm last night until this afternoon, not even taking the time to sleep. Hopefully I will get some rest tonight so that I can get out there to take some great shots. I will post all of the photos when I'm done.

What a bright sight for a dreary January day. I can imagine your surprise Jesse to see those lively blooms.

Yep ... pretty little impatiens flowers! And ... they will survive and keep growing as long as you keep them in that warm GH environment! I still have some blooming in a container out in my screened pool enclosure and also one in a flower bed. They are perennials down here if we have a mild winter!

Lovely Blooms!

Impatiens have always been one of my favorite shade garden flowering plants! Coral is not my favorite color, but here's one that hitch hiked from some I grew from seeds .... it's been growing in this pot for a few years!

I guess I am gonna have to move some stuff under cover this evening .... supposed to be @ 39-40 here tonight. It's only 45 outside right not and rainy and dreary. This is supposed to be Florida! We do NEED the rain .... just not the cold temperatures!

These are just pots that got dumped behind the shed .... guess I should save them, huh?

Were low 45 tonight but Sunny and 60 now. Just Sunny for awhile has been raining most of the week this we are glad for we are in a bad drought and only allowed to water once a week until end of July or longer. Rain it good !

Wer'e getting a little of a warm up over here on the East Coast Allison, but it's still only 48 degrees outside! I can't believe it ... at almost noon and not even 50! Yeah, we are in a bad drought situation over here in Volusia County too. It rained a bit yesterday and a little last night too, but we sure could use a LOT more! It's very cloudy and dreary and COLD in Daytona Beach, Florida today!
