I have sun in my yard today! It better stick around stil Fri cuz I can't be out there either today or tomorrow except for a few minutes at a time. This is the first time since maybe October!
Gwen
Oh My
Ya it is a nice sunny day here too!!!
My fingers are crossed that it lasts the weekend - I have to work today and tomorrow, but might have a short while in the afternoon (Friday), then can take my mother for a ride to the beach in Seattle on Saturday, then Sunday will be MINE MINE MINE to spend in the garden!!!
Can we stand the excitement???!!!
Doesn't it just lighten your mood and make you want to dig? Well that is the effect I get. :)
Loving the sunshine here today (and this past weekend). It has been so nice. We got down to 22 last night here on our Renton Hillside - what temperatures did others have?
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! I think it got down to around 30, 28 the night before. We've had a lot of fog in the mornings, though, which isn't burning off very well. I went into Seattle today and by the time I got off the ferry in Mukilteo it was bright and sunny! My dad said there was no fog there at all (Shoreline area, actually).
I did get out Sunday and do some of that digging I think we all need, but I got a bit cold and didn't accomplish nearly as much as I would like to. Sure did feel better, though!
Reporting from east of Lake Sammamish - the thermometer read 23° this morning at 6. I had to look twice to make sure of that.
The commute was a real trip today - people were acting bizarre. One lady threw a literal temper tantrum: flinging her head around (hair was bouncing everywhere), slamming her hand on the steering wheel and a very grotesque wild-eyed look on her face. I could tell by her expression & mouth that she was screaming obscenities. All because the guy in front of her let me into his lane to exit, so he could merge into my lane. She kept this up all the way down the exit & was still screaming when I turned. I waved - Bye Bye!!!! What else could I do? I'm glad that I do not have to work with someone that is wound that tight!
But what a wonderful afternoon - warm & it smelled so good today, too. Tomorrow, more of the same or so I have heard.
Happy Wednesday to all & Cheers! K
Same here Murmur. I got on the ferry around 12:30 yesterday and it was pea soup. Right when we arrived in Mukilteo, we broke out into sunshine.
I hope to get outside and plant some of those overdue bulbs today while the sun is still out.
Gwen
LOL - I've got some of those bulbs, too, Gwen - and hope to get out a little later. I have to go to work for about two hours, but should still have some sunshine - well, gosh sakes, it's foggy again . . . blows in and out here!
Here in the wilds of S.E. Washington State, it's cloudy, cold (24 degrees), air stagnation advisory in effect until tomorrow 10:00 A.M....depressing. :(
Does that happen often in your area, Lettuceman?
Yes, winters are a real drag over here.
I have a friend in Clarkston who talks about the cold temps at times, but has never mentioned a stagnation advisory. Are you close to that town?
Lettuceman, You may know Charlie Cheever from Dayton. He worked for my dad about 40 yrs ago. He had a CPA firm in Dayton forever. Dayton is nice. The winters are similar to here in Moxee. I have 2 sisters in Walla Walla. We get more fog in the mornings and hoare frost is incredible here at times in the winter. Thanking my lucky stars I don't have to drive to work (home office). Charlie may be too old to still be with us. God its been a long time. I talked to him on the phone in about 1990.
Murmur, Clarkston is about 60 miles east of Dayton. I grew up in Lewiston, Idaho just across the Snake River from Clarkston. The Stagnation advisory just means that there is little or no air movement and pollution collects near the surface. In our case we have lots of clouds and fog and the cold temps are also trapped for a time...miserable!
Photographer, I came to Dayton in 1989, but never knew Charlie. You probably wouldn't recognise Dayton today. Downtown is full of thriving businesses and Main Street was given a face-lift several years back. Still has that rural, small-town flavor that I just love. Great soil for my gardens too, as we're right on the southern edge of the famous Palouse loam country.
