I saw this plant in Tampa, Fa. growing in someones yard. It is a bush and loaded with floweres. I have a sky vine that looks just like this flower but it is a vine. This plant is a bush. If anyone has this and knows its name I'd appreciate your passing it along as well as I'd be glad to trade you something for a start of it. I have plenty of elephant ears, and other tropicals, daylilies, once this weather breaks and spring gets here things will really get to growing. Thanks, Ellen
CLOSED: CLOSED: need plant identification and start if you have any
think that is Kings Mantle.
This is the link to it: http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/11416/
After examining the link it matches exactly with "Thunbergia Erecta", Thanks so much....now if I can just get a start....guess I'll just have to go back to Fl. later when they get out in the markets. Ya'll know ya stuff. I gotta say that. Thanks, Ellen
If you are good at plant propagation I could be talked into sending out cuttings in return for other cuttings, especially uncommon coleus, after the weather gets really warm, say late March. It is a true tropical plant that does best under warm conditions. Here is my favorite Thunbergia, it is battiscombei, more vine than a shrub, but, still very well behaved compared to some of the genus (like altata or grandiflora).
thunbergia erecta is also called bush clock vine. it is for sale at www.toptropicals.com , www.hartuz.com , and www.FabulousDomains.com .
I think that second link should be "kartuz".
Dale, Thanks but I do have that one, mine never gets as big as yours looks, but is beautiful. My daughter lives in Tampa, she said when spring gets here they'll have the Thunbergias in all the Home Depots and Lowes so you who live in those areas can check those stores and may be able to find them there. I plan to have her check later. Thanks. I have 2 Thunbergias, one is dark blue like the one you posted and the other is (see attachment) light blue and a larger flower, blooms late summer thru fall. Will be glad to share when it comes out in the spring.
