Digging through old bird pics

Here are some over the last few years.

This next series is of bluebirds that were nesting. On 4/27/04 noticed that only the dad was coming in and out to feed them.

I figured out why, the mother lay dead on the ground by the box, not sure why. I kept a close eye on the dad, giving lots of mealworms, but they were older and he didn't have to go it alone for long. This was the next day, with one peeking out.

Two days later, went out to check on them, and all babies had fledged, except this last one.

Dad is encouraging him to come out.

Now he's ready to jump

Landed first on the patio chair

Then off towards the woods to find his siblings.

MaryinLa what a grat photo collection and great bluebirds story. The last baby is sooooooo !!! cute. So sad about the mom, but in the end , they did make it so :)

How sweet!! Nice pics Mary! Love the Bluebird series. You certainly had a great variety! I rarely see pics of the Indigo Bunting or the Red Headed Woodpecker. Thanks so much for posting these!
